It's Not Over Yet, A Varian X Reader COMPLETE

Chapter 12: Double Heartbreak

     Today is a pretty slow and boring day, I got all my chores done early because for some reason I woke up extra early today so I have the rest of the evening to myself. Varian is out with Punzel and Quirin went to run some errands so I'm all alone in the house laying down on the couch and staring up at the ceiling trying to figure out what to do to pass time.

     "Travis, maybe he's free. I should go find him and see if he is able to hang out" I say to myself out loud.

     I swiftly grab my satchel and walk out the door eager to see Travis, it's been a while since I've seen his handsome face and heard his really cute flirty comments. I search almost every corner, store, Alley, street, and no sign of Travis. I walk to the docks about to give up when I notice a familiar messy white mop of hair walking down to the boats, I perk up and start sprinting after him before he gets on a boat.

     "Travis, Hey!" I yell out while waving my hand around to catch his attention.

     He stops in his tracks and looks around for the source of my voice. As soon as his eyes lock on mine he starts getting nervous and fidgets with his hands.

     "Oh h-hey (Y/N), w-what are you doing h-here?" He asks scratching the back of his neck and avoiding eye contact

     "Well I finished my chores early so I decided to look for you and see if you wanted t-"

     "Travis, honey, what's the hold up?" Asks a female voice that's getting closer along with the sound of light footsteps on the docks.

     I turn towards the sound and see a pretty girl with shiny, light brown, wavy hair that goes past her shoulders. She is wearing a long light blue dress that suits her carmel colored skin and brown hair. She is wearing the same colored bow on her bangs to keep them from going to her face Her eyes are piercing black and sparkly against the sunlight, she stands a little taller than me. She locks her black piercing eyes on mine and we stare at each other for a couple seconds before we speak at the same time.

    "Uhh Travis, mind telling me who she is?" We say in unison now looking at him for answers

     "Well umm, Katy boo, this is my friend (Y/N), (Y/N) this is my new girlfriend Katy" his voice has a little shake to it and he's avoiding eye contact

     'Girlfriend' that word echos through my head. Travis, girlfriend, Travis got himself a girlfriend. I feel a sudden and almost familiar pain strike in my heart like a blade, but this pain is different yet it feels a little familiar. Tears stain my eyes threatening to pour out like a river that I force back.

     "I thoug- you said that I was the person you liked and that you don't like anyone else. I see you somehow moved on from me too fast and found yourself someone new, well you better take care of her and love her a lot, also don't break her heart and stay loyal, I need to get going now. I forgot I had to do one more thing at home. See you around" I manage to say without a single tear escaping my eyes.

     I quickly turn around and run away from them so they don't hear my cries or see my tears. I hear Travis yell my name out but I ignore him and keep running towards the house avoiding eye contact with anyone and everyone the whole way home.

     When I get home I close and lock the door and lean my forehead against it to comprehend everything and let my feelings out, but I can't even do that because from upstairs I hear footsteps and a voice I really needed to hear.

     "(Y/N) is that you? I have something amazing to tell you, you're going to be proud I just know it!" His excited voice and fast pace footsteps go towards me that's still at the front door. "(Y/N, I couldn't find you anywhere I was about to go out and find you, but guess what?!" He still sounds really excited

     "Uhh what?" I say trying to sound as happy and curious as possible.

     "Well I was at the castle today trying to help Rapunzel out and I asked Cass to go out on a date with me and guess what she said?!"

     I already know where this is going, by the sound of the excitement laced in his voice like poison to me. Cass had accepted his offer, but why would she accept his offer if she doesn't even like him?

     "She said Yes! Under one condition, that I'd leave her alone afterwards"

     Well that seems like Cass, but then again she could have taken another approach and rejected him in a more aggressive tone or something. I look at Varian and force a smile to hide my ever growing heartache.

     "That's great Varian, I'm happy for you, hey I just remembered I have to ask Punzel something so I'll head out to the castle before it gets late, see you later V"

     "Let me come with you, I could keep talking to Cass about our date plans hehe"

     "No, it's alright, I'd rather go alone, plus maybe when I get there Cass isn't going to be there. I'll be back soon, bye V" I say closing the door before Varían can protest any more.

     My walk to the Castle was pretty lonely, sad, and boring. I made sure to take the dead streets to the castle so no one saw or heard my cries of heartbreak. At the castle I struggled looking for Punzel for a while, I was close to giving up at that point and going back home when I hear her voice behind the Kitchen doors. I walk through them and see her talking with the chefs and tasting different kinds of foods.

     "Punzel thank heavens I found you, I really need your help please, a lot just happened and I need something to turn to" I say walking up to her.

     "Hey (Y/N) I'm sorry about what you're going through but I can't help you at the moment, I have a lot to do for this Royal party my family and I are throwing here soon so I'm really busy, maybe next time you can talk to me about what happened ok" she rants without even looking at my tearful eyes.

     Without another word I walk out of the kitchen and out the front doors into the now fresh air and setting sun. There's no other place for me to go to or anyone to turn to, what should I do now? I couldn't lift my head up and look to where I'm heading to so I just let my feet take me anywhere that isn't close to here.

     Eventually I find myself face to face with the circle and three line marking on Varían and I's tree. I lean my forehead against the tree and hug it as I let all my pent up emotions out. Just yesterday everyone I knew had my back and would be there whenever I needed them, today, I feel like everyone has turned their back to me and left me here to defend myself. My heart is broken because of the two guys I've really liked, they apparently don't like me back. I feel really heartbroken and betrayed.
