Just After Twilight is when the plan is set in motion. Everyone gathers their weapons and dark clothing, and they all huddle around a drawn-out map of the castle by Y/N as she knows the layout of the castle where every guard is posted, and where the best escape route would be just in case things go south. Everyone has agreed that they will split up into twos and take the North, South, West, and East sides of the entrances take down the guards, and meet in the middle of the castle to take the upstairs and downstairs while Y/N and Andrew go and capture Rapunzel, her parents, Cassandra, and Eugene.
Everyone sharpens their swords and makes sure that they have more than one weapon on them just in case. The plan is once again refreshed in everyone's memories and now it's time to play the waiting game, two hours before their plan for attack. Some of the members of the group go out to find some food to fuel everyone up before the big fight.
Downstairs in the cold basement Varian can hear everything they are saying due to the decaying and thinning wood above his head. Frantically he is trying to figure out a way to get free from the chains so he can stop the mess that is going to unfold within the next few hours. That is when a light bulb went off in his head.
"Of course how could I forget one of my best friends." He listens intently for any movement and talking.
When he knows that everyone is distracted in their plan Varian stands up and moves towards the window trying to pry it open just a tiny bit to be able to whistle out without anyone noticing it is him. The sound of the chains is already loud enough so he has to move very slowly to not make as much noise which is one out of three of the hardest parts. He wraps some of the chains around his wrists and using both of his hands he starts feeling around the window sill to find any sort of latch. Unsuccessful with his search he decides to do the only thing he has to do and that is push against the already withering and rotting wood. It doesn't take much effort for him to pry the window out of the frame just enough to be able to whistle out of.
The commotion upstairs is still bursting with life so Varian takes this chance and makes a long and low whistle lasting for about four seconds before stopping and shifting his attention upstairs to see if anyone heard. Luckily no one did and just a few minutes after that, Ruddiger came running toward the window he heard the whistle from. He squeezes his tubby body through the small opening and chirps as he sees his owner whom he hasn't seen in a few days. Varian explains to Rudigger his situation and he needs help finding the key that someone most likely has on their person. Before Rudigger could go find the key they hear someone walking down to the basement. The little raccoon sprints and hides behind Varian to stay out of sight and out of trouble.
Y/N steps into the room with her head hung low. She looks depressed, she tries to hide it but no matter how hard she does he can see the despair in her eyes.
"We are finally going to take what we want. This is going to be the last time you ever see me so I have the keys to unlock the shackles you're in but I can't have you following us and stopping us from taking over so what I'm going to do is throw the keys in the middle of the room so you have to figure out how to get them and unshackle yourself and by the time you do the kingdom will be taken over."
She throws the keys in the middle of the room like she said and leaves without saying another word, closing and locking the door behind her. Well, that was the hardest thing out of the way now all he needs to do is get his hands on the keys, stop everyone from the bloodshed, and stop Y/N from ending herself.
"Y/N I will try my very hardest to save you and love you for the rest of our lives." He says in determination before running off with Rudigger following suit.
Everyone runs through the village being stealthy and quiet as the breeze through the air making their way to the castle and start the next phase of their plan. All Y/N could think of the whole way is how this is her last rush of excitement before she puts her soul to rest for all eternity. She never intended for any of this to happen but things happen for a reason and you have to live with it. Let's just hope she doesn't regret it as she's laying to rest.
