Try to Remember

Chapter One

I live a happy life, I'm raising 5 amazing kids with my best friend, I'm the head of a school where I help so many not feel alone and different along with the same best friend. Everything is perfect. My kids are healthy and loved. Why do I feel like somethings going to happen? I can sense it in the air for some reason, it's a chaotic feeling.

It reminds me of the day I found Nik cheating on me, with a girl that I thought I could trust. We weren't exactly friends but we didn't dislike each other. That was one of the worst days of my life, not only did I walk in on him cheating on me, but I was going to tell him the amazing news, that I was pregnant.

I still remember the words he said to me, and I'll never forget them. As I walked in and tears welled up in my eyes, I gasped and he turned around, I told him "We're done! I can't believe you would do this!" While trying to keep the tears from coming out of my eyes, not wanting to give either of them the satisfaction of seeing me cry or break down. He replied coldly, like our relationship didn't even matter, like the trust we had built up was nothing, "I don't have to explain myself to you." I walked out of the house and have never looked back, I never saw him, her or his family again.

I've been sitting at my desk for about 10 minutes just staring at the picture of my family and wondering what it could be. "K-Bear, are you ok?" I hear Alaric ask me from his desk. "Hmm....I dont know.....I feel like something's going to happen....I just can't explain it," I tell him. He walks to me and starts to massage my shoulders while saying, "maybe your just stressed we've been stressing about the whole merge thing....maybe it's just becoming to much......let's go out and eat maybe that'll help."

"I've never been one to turn down food....hmm are you asking me out Ric cause I'm going to have to tell the kids if you are." I say. He laughs then replies, "of course I am, and the kids are totally ok with it." He helps me up and we leave Dorian in charge while we go to the Grill to eat.

Alaric and I enter the Grill and go to our usual table and he orders our usual meals. We talked while waiting then while eating, our conversations never seem to stop or bore even tho we work, live and have 5 kids together.

"Have you talked to the twins today?" He asked. "Which ones?" I asked while laughing a little. "Well since Jace and Emery are in class and Lizzie and Josie are with Care I'm pretty sure I mean them." He replies smirking at my glare. "Well then, yeah they were saying how much they love it, seems like they're having a great time without us, hun." I say.

He smiles at me and says, "Don't worry Ken, they're our kids they love us, but they're teens, they are going to leave the nest one day." "Why are they growing up, all of them, they should stay small, cute and with us." I say. "I know Bear but that's life and they'll always need us....even if they think they don't." He says smiling at me and squeezing my hand.

We finished eating and before heading back to school I headed over to the town square to wait for Alaric to finish something up. I feel someone staring and turn and see two woman. They look away but I can still feel them looking once I turn around.

I stand up ready to walk away from the two once feeling the power on them and knowing they are witches. The two woman follow me and call out, "excuse me, hi sorry for bothering you." "Yes, what could I do for you two witches" I ask. They looked shocked and look at each other before turning back to me "I'm sorry...how did you....know" "I'm an elemental, I could feel your magic....its quite strong." I respond. "I'm sorry,we were just wondering if your the head of the Salvatore School?" The blond one asks.

"Yes, I'm Kenna, nice to meet you." I say politely but curious about how they would know that. "Hi, I'm Freya and this is my sister in law, Davina, we just moved here with our family and we were hoping to enroll our niece." Freya asks. "Of course, here take my card and call the first number there and we could schedule an appointment to start the process." I say while handing them the card.

"Thank you, of course we'll call soon." She says. "Hey hun, you ready?" Ric says to me from across the lot, I smile at the two woman and walk to Ric, who opens the door to the car for me and we drive towards the school.

"She looks just like his paintings.....absolutely beautiful." Freya tells Davina. "How do you think he'll react if we make an appointment with her." Davina says. Freya laughs before pulling Davina towards the Grill.
