Chapter Twenty Six

Kenna's POV

I'm trying extremely hard to keep my emotions down and not cry on the way home. I instead calm myself down so that the twins don't get angry.

"Sorry mom." I hear Jace quietly say next to me. He called shotgun.

"You have nothing to apologize for, baby." I say looking to him.

"You said what you felt and frankly he deserved it for pushing like that." I say as he smiles.

"He's such an asshole, how did we turn out fine? Wait no how did Hope turn out sweet!" Emery says chuckling in the back.

We laugh along with her as Jace nods agreeing. "We were raised by mom who could never even hurt a fly, that's how." He says.

Once we get home we walk in to see everyone in the living room waiting.

"How did it go? Are you guys okay?" Alaric says rushing to hug us.

"It's Klaus, so of course he said something and ruined the dinner." Emery says.

"What did that psycho do this time?" Lizzie says hugging me.

"He said we should obey him since he's our father and wanted the three of us to move in with him. I think he's gone crazy." Jace says going to sit down.

"At least you're home now, why don't we all just relax and enjoy the rest of the night?" Alec says.

"Your right, lets have another family night!" Josie says as the girls squeal and run of to the kitchen.

"Boys, you know what to do." Alaric says as they nod and head to get some blankets.

"Are you alright?" Ric asks as he brings me into a hug.

"I am now." I say hugging him back loving the feeling of being in his arms and feeling safe and complete.

"Thank you." I whisper into his chest.

"For what?"

"Being you." I say smiling up at him as he brings me in for a kiss.

"I love you Ken."

"I love you too."

"Aww you guys are so cute I might puke." Emery says as the girls come in with arms filled with snacks.

The Next Day

I'm in my office with Ric currently cuddling on the couch. He always seems to be able to calm me down and make me feel safe and warm even on my worst days.

"Baby, are you alright?" He asks running his hand up and down my back.

"No, but just being here with you is helping." I say as I feel him kiss the top of my head.

"Always." He says making me smile into his chest.

"What are we going to do?" He whispers.

"I don't know anymore, I can't continue to pretend to be compelled after last night, I can't believe the way he talked to Jace. I wanted to set him on fire right there." I say making chuckle.

He pulls away a little to see my face as I smile at him and put my arms around his neck.

"Don't pretend, just tell him that you can't be compelled."

"I want to, but he did that cause he was desperate and if he becomes even more desperate, I'm afraid he'll try to hurt you." I say as he pulls me closer to him that I sit on his lap.

"That won't happen, I'll never leave you or the kids alone." He says making me smile.

"I'll figure something out, Babe. I promise, then we can all be happy." I say as he nods and pulls me into a kiss.
