Under the blooming cherry blossom trees along the canal of the Philosopher's Path, between Gingakuji and Nanzenji Temples, he found her waiting for him."Come!" She smiled, pulling his hand.
"Where to?" he asked. "Cherry blossom ice-cream! They only have it once a year."
Suddenly, they were each holding an ice-cream cone, licking the sweet dessert, enjoying the light breeze. The smell of the cherry blossom lifted their hearts.
She finished her ice-cream and glanced at him. "Goodbye, I'm leaving."
He looked startled and confused. "Where are you going?"
She smiled. "A place where I should go." She started walking.
"Tsuki, will I see you again?"
She turned and gave him her warmest most radiant smile. "Yes. You have found me."
The sunrays grew stronger and stronger and it blinded him and he no longer could see her back.
Wang He Di's eyes fluttered opened. No cherry blossom trees, only a white ceiling he was looking at.
"Tsuki." he whispered.
He sat up. A strange feeling enveloped him. It was neither sadness or anxiety. It felt like warmth and joy.
Shen Yue. Indeed he had found her.
He jumped out of the bed, grinning. It's Valentine's Day. I should get Yue something tonight. But she didn't seem like the typical kind of girl who would love flowers.
"Don't all girls love flowers?" He asked himself aloud. Tsuki, he mean, Yue, was extraordinary.
Still frowning, deepening the crease between his eyes, he rolled out of his bed to the kitchen for a glass of water. He was supposed needed to get ready for an appointment with a client this afternoon.
"Morning, Didi," his older cousin, Marco Chen Song Hua greeted him. Marco was his father's sister's son whom he was closest with. His parents had emigrated to the States.
When Didi had the heart surgery, his father invited him to join the company. He had been staying in his house since he moved to Kyoto. Partly, he was working with his father when he was not around and they needed someone to take care of this mansion.
It was a family heirloom, hard work from Didi's great-grandfather to his father. Didi was prepared to take over the business, which explained why he studied Business Administration.
But his failing health over the years worried his parents so much that his father finally decided that he could choose a profession that he liked.
When his father passed away, it was expected of him to come back and manage it but Didi would still love to be in the entertainment industry. For now, he took time off to make sure his father's business runs well.
"Morning, Hua-ge. Do I need be to be in the office today? Or can I work from home?"
"You can work from home. But the noon lunch appointment with the board of directors is the one you don't want to miss."
"What about the owner of the chain of Japanese restaurants? Is he still keen with our proposal?"
"Definitely. Which is why lunch will be at one of his restaurants in city central."
