Yue could not stop. She glanced at her rear mirror and could still see the black van following her, even with a car in between them. If she drove to Didi's house, they would have found out the identity of her secret lover.
She was at the studio earlier with Justin, getting ready to leave when Dudu stormed into the room, startling them.
"Didn't I tell you to be careful? THIS IS BAD, SHEN YUE!" She screamed, as she shoved her phone to Yue.
Her face went white when she saw the headline. Then, the photos. Who would have taken a shot of them? There were so many people that night. She felt her pulse racing as she read the article, an obvious showcase of her private life.
"How do you explain yourself, Yue? Do you know the consequences? And your single album is doing so well! With this news, and the concert coming up, we are dead. The paparazzi will be all over you."
"I'm sorry, Dudu-jie. That night at the club, it was a celebration party and I had some drinks. I have no idea who would want to harm me." She responded, feeling helpless.
Justin took the phone from her and started reading. "Yue, at least the photo did not reveal Didi's face."
"Are you that naive, Justin? They will find out soon enough! We need an official statement to deny these fabricated lies." Dudu fumed.
"Dudu-jie, what they wrote about me is not entirely untrue. Except using connections to get favors. You know I worked hard on my own."
"Yue, don't be silly! Denial is the way to solve this. Let me handle it."
"I want them to know the truth. About me and Jia Er. And Didi. Why should I hide anymore?" She felt a strange courage gathering inside her.
"Not now. You have too much at stake. Didi will agree with me."
"Didi will support me. I must go to him now." She said, as she headed to the door.
"Shen Yue! If you leave here like that right now, I will make sure you won't be extending your contract after the concert!" Dudu screamed.
Yue turned back to her slowly. "After the concert, I will leave."
"No, you won't."
"Watch me."
Stupid Yue! Why did you say that?
Pulling herself back to the present, the black van was still on her tail. She noticed it when she was almost reaching Didi's house. She managed to turn her bike around and headed towards the city instead.
She went around Suzhou in circles, stopping at the library, pet shop and finally, at Minatoya for dinner. She noticed the black van was parked outside of the restaurant.
