"I need a break!"
Yue let out a frustrated sigh and removed her headphone set. A breath of fresh air was what she needed after a whole morning of vocal training.
She opened the studio door and gestured to her new assistant, Liang Liang. "Liang, I don't care what you or Dudu-jie say, I'm meeting Didi after this. Don't even try to stop me."
"But Yue-jie, you have a scheduled rehearsal with the whole band. They will be in shortly."
"I just want to go out for a while. I will be back. Just chill, Liang." She had not met Didi for almost a week and she missed him terribly.
True to her word to Dudu, she worked diligently once she came back from Osaka a month ago. Vocal trainings, interviews, magazine shoots, radio programs, special appearance on variety show.
In a month, her name became famous in Weibo and radio, her followers increased and her concert tickets were selling fast.
Even the Japanese community started to know her name when the interview with Kandytown was aired a week ago.
Despite her excitement about their single launching in a few days' time, Yue was starting to feel restless as the most important day drew near.
"Yue-jie, you have to promise me to be back here. And stay low-key when you go out with Didi."
"Haven't I been doing that? For goodness sake, I have done nothing but work since I came home. I'm going mad."
A lump rose to her throat as she felt her eyes brimmed with tears.
I miss Didi. I need to spend more time with him before his surgery.
Of all the dates, his surgery date had to be the date of her concert. Dr Jerry said the surgery no longer could be delayed and Didi was stubborn to have it after his 25th birthday. What is she going to get him? The gift he needed most now was the gift of health.
"Liang, do you have a boyfriend?"
She nodded and smiled.
"If you know he will be going for a high-risk surgery, what will you do?"
The young assistant shrugged but looked concernedly at Yue. "Ask God for blessings?"
Yue thought for a while before responding. "You're right. We can only do that much." She took a deep breath. "I'm sorry, Liang Liang. I know I have been difficult. I promise I won't get you into trouble."
Her phone buzzed and it was a message from Didi. The corners of her lips lifted up as she typed back.
"Yue-jie, is Didi the one for you?" Liang Liang suddenly asked.
