There were two very busy cooks in the white minimalist kitchen. One was mixing batches of flour and eggs together, the other one was arranging salad and fruits on wide plates and bowls.

"Didi, how many takoyaki balls do you think we still need?" Yue asked, scooping out the flour to the bowl. Both her hands were covered with batter and flour, as they made dumplings and pastries, since an hour ago.

"At least fifty more?" he replied, looking up to her. "Our friends have quite a big appetite."

"We have other food. Let's finish with this batch using your machine. We can even sell this! Nai Nai used to make pancakes by the roadside and I helped her to sell."

Didi grinned, his hands busy with the food arrangements. "Sometimes, I wonder if you were better being a singer or a food marketer."

"Both!" She suddenly felt an itch in her face and proceeded to wipe her face with back of her palm. But she forgot it was floured too.

"Yue, hey, stop that. You have flour on your face," he chuckled, as he leaned over and brushed off the spot she just touched.

A glint of mischief appeared in her eyes. "So do you!" With a swift movement, she slabbed a handful of flour on Didi's cheek.

"HEY!!!" He shouted, his hands waving her away. She laughed and took another handful and threw it across to him. His eyes turned menacing.

"Oh, Shen Yue, you asked for it!" His hands reached out to the bag of flour in front of him.

"Wang He Di, no stop! I'm sorry!"

"If apologies work, we don't need the police!" He chased her around the counter and finally grabbed her by the shoulders and smeared flour all over her face and neck.

She screamed. "I'm gonna get you for this!"

Digging her hands into the batter mixture, she ran towards him while he was shouting "Don't waste food! Not enough flour!"

It was too late when she jumped up from behind him, her legs wrapping around him and masked him with the batter.

Before she could unclasp herself and leap off, he grabbed her by her thighs and locked her feet around him, carrying her piggyback.

"Hey, put me down!"

"Not so soon!"

"Oh, in that case, let's conquer some kingdoms, Emperor Wang!" She shouted, pushing her hand to the air, as though she was holding a sword.

"Am I the horse?"

"Ha yes, then I should be the emperor and you are my faithful horse. Come on giddy up!!!"
