The next morning, aside from a slight stinging sensation on my wrists and the lingering psychological terror inflicted on me by the bastard blue blood, I felt relieved and ready to get back to the normal every day life of the Phantomhive townhome.
After getting out of bed, I walked over to the window and pulled the curtains back. The sunlight outside was warm, so unlike the blinding lights of the stage. I sighed and basked in it for a few moments before walking over to the wardrobe and getting ready for work.
"Good morning," I called out, leaving the room.
"Good morning," Sebastian greeted politely from down below, "Take a look at the paper in the lounge when you have the chance."
I nodded, going down to the living room and approaching the coffee table. There, hanging off the side of the table, was the paper of the day with bold, black letters once again saying:
Jack the Ripper Strikes Again!?
I quickly sat down on the couch and picked it up, reading through the article. Another girl... prostitute... 26ish years old... womb removed... and the disemboweled. The rest was just relative facts about the case, and a reminder to keep an eye open for suspicious characters.
"So, it wasn't Druitt then?" I sighed, rubbing my face.
"Indeed," Sebastian responded, coming up behind me as I took another bite of the apple.
"What else do you have? Any other leads?" I said, turning to face him.
Sebastian shrugged, "Perhaps, but Ciel decided to let you recover from last night's affairs. Please do not worry yourself about this case's affairs any more."
"If Ciel says so, then I suppose I must," I sighed and leaned against the couch arm, "How's Ciel handling this all anyway?"
I saw the corners of his lips pull down slightly, "Not very well."
"Is it because Druitt wasn't Jack?"
Sebastian nodded, "Yes."
"I see, well, then..." I bit my lip before looking back toward Sebastian, "What do you have for me to do today?"
"Today you are to go out and shop," he said, passing me a rather long list of items, "There's a bag of money sitting near the entrance. I suggest you start with the pricier or rarer items first, that way you're able to break down the coins in a more efficient manner."
American: Sugar, cotton, rice, tropical fruits
India: Raw silk, wheat, barley, saltpeter, cinnamon, cardamom, ginger, turmeric
China: New set of blue porcelain.
British: Gun powder, cane for Ciel, gloves for Sebastian, maid hat for Eve, new duster
"I'm going to have to make multiple trips for all of this," I muttered under my breath and then turned my head up to look up at Sebastian, "These are all Indian spices, right?"
He nodded, "Yes. Just ask for them by name, and they will be able to point you in the right direction."
I nodded, "Alright."
"And also, when you come back, go straight to the kitchen to unload things. Do not bother the young master. He has an important meeting today."
