We immediately returned to the manor, and I was relieved to see Royce and Soma there already, seated in the parlor. We joined them, taking our seats. I sat beside Royce, tugging and pulling on his face to make sure his was okay. He playfully batted my hands away before thrusting the deer head in my face, laughing when I screamed.

"That man was superhuman," Lau said, calmly sipping his tea.

"You just noticed?" I asked, looking at him incredulously.

"It's Samadhi," Soma said, looking quite despondent, "A state of mental concentration. When he gets like that, no one can touch him."

"Samadhi?" Ciel asked, trying the word out on his tongue.

"I imagine it's a type of trance," Sebastian said, nodding.

"Yes, so broken was he produced superhuman strength through his absolute faith in his master," Royce commented, pulling me close to his side.

"It's the power of faith," Sebastian continued, "Born from believing in and loving someone, something we can never have." He directed his gaze toward Ciel at that moment, as if warning him directly.

"Then why would he betray me?" Soma said, leaning forward before slamming his hands on the table, "Why do the people close to me always leave?!" He swiped his hands across the table, shattering the tea pot and cups on it.

"Why, you," Ciel said, warning him.

I looked back at Soma, to see him trembling, "Why... why..."

He then turned and fled out of the room, actual tears falling from his eyes.

"He's really quite dumb," I commented, sipping from my tea cup which I'd saved.

"Oh, just look at the Haviland tea set I ordered thinking it would suit my lord," Sebastian said as he looked sadly at the shattered glassware, "I guess I must retrain him a little."

Sebastian then left the room, following the prince out, looking quite upset.

"Um, Ciel?" I asked, lifting my finger after him, "Aren't you the slightest bit worried?"

"No," Ciel said, looking angry himself, "That spoiled prince deserves exactly what he's about to get."

"But... Sebastian's always especially touchy about the tea and tableware... you don't think he's going to kill him, are you?"

"No," Ciel said as he stood, "Though... I suppose I will follow him just to make sure nothing else important breaks."

And then it was just Lau, Royce, and myself in the parlor.

"It seems that my lord can sometimes have a kind heart," Lau said, sipping from his tea cup.

I sighed, putting my head on Royce's shoulder, "I'm relieved that he went after them."

"Yes, you're quite like a mother to those in this house, aren't you?" Lau said, nodding at me.

I raised an eyebrow, "I believe that's the first time you've ever spoke directly to me."

"You've caught my attention, along with your partner there," he said, nodding at Royce, "Might I ask, exactly how you serve in the Phantomhive estate?"

I pursed my lips, "Just as any other servant here does. Protecting and serving the interests of the young master Phantomhive."

Royce nodded, wrapping his arm around me as he smiled, "Same here."

"And that's all?" He asked, sipping his tea, "You two look quite close, almost like Ran-mao and I."

I smiled, placing my hand on Royce's thigh, "Oh? Do we now?"
