The next day, an even gloomier shadow hung over the house as we contemplated the death of the man, James.

"What a horrible trip..." I heard Bard say as Sebastian and I wandered around a corner outside of the house. Ciel had told us to go look again during the day for further clues.

"Yes... Yes..." Mey-rin said, her voice heavy.

"What's the matter?" Sebastian asked, tilting his head to the side as we came to a stop in front of them. They looked depressed. "You were so enthusiastic on the drive here." He gave them a slight smile.

"Yeah, well..." Bard said and sighed, slumping over a tree trunk.

"Have you forgotten? We came to attend a resort," Sebastian lifted up a beach picnic basket and a men's swimsuit out of nowhere. I blinked and shook my head. Wha.... when did he have the time...

The three instantly perked up, smiles appearing on their faces as they gasped excitedly.

Shortly afterward, they were all at the beach. Everyone but me. I told Ciel and Sebastian that I wanted to stay behind because I have a strong hatred for open water. Before they left, Sebastian gave me a pet or two and whispered something about me being such a cat before disappearing. Ciel caught my hand though, and pulled me down to him.

"See if you can get into Barrymore's office. Look for two things: First, I want you to find..." he listed his instructions to me and I nodded, smiling at him as he walked toward the carriage.

"See you later, my Lord!" I said and waited until they were all loaded up before turning back to go into the house. Instantly, my senses jerked to life, listening for any signs of life. The manor was empty.

If I heard it right, then today Barrymore will be making an appearance at the funeral. Angela will go with him, naturally, but I should be wary just in case. Now... to Barrymore's office.

I snuck through the house until I reached Barrymore's office of animal heads. There, I tried the door knob. It was locked

I frowned and searched through the rest of the manor. There was nothing around that I could find which Ciel had wanted me to discover.

So if anything's hiding, it has to be in that office!

I walked outside and to the side of the estate where I knew the room's window was. I checked the window. It easily pushed open. Yes!

I jumped inside and landed softly on my toes, crouching down.

Hmm... desk first. I tried opening the drawers. Three of them slid open easily, and after rummaging around in them, I only found basic paperwork and Ciel's letter which announced his travel to the Barrymore estate. The fourth drawer, located on the right side of Barrymore's desk, wouldn't open.

Need key. Luck don't fail me now!

I went over to the bookshelves and searched through its volumes on the third and fourth shelves, the shelves which I figured were closest to Barrymore's eye level. If there was anything on this bookshelf, that old man wouldn't want to be bending over. However, there was nothing. So, I searched through the other three, on the first, second and fifth shelves, and once again, nothing. I put my hands on my hips and looked around the room. On the side of Barrymore's chair's seat, though, my eye caught the reflection of a metallic object. I walked over to it and crouched down, seeing a key.

"If only everything were this easy..." I sighed and took the key out, slipping it into the locked drawer, "Barrymore must be a really stupid man to have to hide it in some place so simple."
