The day after the funeral, the young Lord left the house for a while. Sebastian went with him, and so I was left to do the chores. Midway through the day, a paper arrived declaring that Jack the Ripper was finally captured and executed.
We left London two days later. Now that the case was solved, Ciel no longer had to remain at the town house. I also figured it was a better way for him to grieve, as even being in the town home was a constant reminder of his aunt's death.

We arrived at the manor, eventually. If one could even call it a manor. The building was more like a castle, and was the epitome of a gothic renaissance revival style.
Wait, why am I thinking about that?
The path we were on led up to a building that was at least four stories tall, with at least one subterranean level. The walls were made of a pale stone stacked one brick on top of the other up and up until it met with a dark roof. Dark wood framed the windows and doors, and two half-moon stair cases wound up to the front doors, leading to an entrance on the first floor.
As we reached the top of the staircase, I saw four people there, all bowing down at the waist. A maid's uniform... a chef... are these people the other servants of the Phantomhive estate?
I tried to figure why they were so strange as Ciel released them from their bow. The woman was obviously Mey-rin, had burgundy hair and glasses nearly falling off the bridge of her nose. The young boy to her right had to be Finnian. He looked like a twig of a person, with strawberry blonde hair and a straw hat hanging off the back of his neck. Two people stood to the right of Mey-rin, one tall and wearing a chef's uniform and the other, another house servant. The chef had to be Bard, the one good at killing things. The other person, if this strange-looking midget could be called a person wore a butler's uniform and carried a cup of tea in a dark green clay cup.
I blinked, confused, as I took another look at their faces. Finnian looked as if he were about to cry, Mey-rin was as red as a lady bug, and Bard was smiling like he was the happiest person on Earth.
The midget said, "Ho, ho, ho."
"Welcome back, young master!" The others chorused, or sniffled, or said "Ho, ho, ho."
"Mey-rin, Finny, Bard, Tanaka," Ciel replied shortly. So the midget's name is Tanaka? Somehow that seemed fitting.
"H-how was your trip, sir?" Mey-rin asked, sneaking a glance at Sebastian. Her blush deepend. So it was true, she liked him. Poor girl. Sebastian ignored her.
"Easy enough," Ciel replied.
"Who's the girl?" Bard asked. His smile was gone and his arms crossed his chest as he frowned at me.
"This is Eve. She will be serving as a maid here at the Estate, take good care of her," Sebastian said. I smiled and gave a slight curtsy.
Mey-rin rushed up to me, grabbing my hands, "So the master's finally brought in another girl, he has. How exciting!"
I returned her smile, but not quite with the same amount of enthusiasm, "And you are...?" I figured it was polite to ask.
"Mey-rin, yes! Come with me!" she yanked me into the mansion with her, pulling my arm. I shot a desperate look back at Sebastian, but he made no move to help.
"Bully!" I called out behind me.
"Who's a bul-!" Two steps into the foyer, Mey-rin suddenly tripped over the carpet and sent both of us tumbling.
