"I see you are finally back to normal, Eve," Ciel said as I walked entered his study, only after burning and destroying the awful torture devices called crutches. My mind had already erased the extreme pain associated with the fever, but now my armpits were sore from having to walk around with crutches all the time.

I nodded, "Yes, I'm relieved as well."

Sebastian had finally given me the clear this morning. It'd only took a whole extra and unnecessary week.

"Come sit," he said, gesturing to the chair in front of his desk.

"Yes, young master," I said, bowing slightly. To occupy my time during my recovery, the dastardly monster named Sebastian also forced me to read several etiquette books about how to act when around nobility. That included Ciel. And then he made me practice different scenarios with him over and over again, until I perfected the speech and mannerisms of a maid.

Not that I didn't know the stuff I taught me, but the extremes he went to in order to perfect everything, including my way of speaking... I shuddered internally.

It only made Ciel raise an eyebrow though, "What did Sebastian do to you?"

I smiled politely, "He's done nothing but help me along the road of my recovery, my lord."

He waited. I looked around the room. You never quite know exactly where Sebastian is.

"I've sent him back to the manor. He's arranging things for our return there."

I raised an eyebrow, "By chance, will we be leaving soon?"

"Indeed."

"If I may ask, how far away is the estate?"

"At least a day's ride by carriage, more or less."

"So, maybe a 30 minute run for him?"

Ciel smiled, "I should love to venture a game with you one of these days."

"So... an hour total, for there and back. He'll take five minutes to prepare things, unless he gives the orders to the other servants. That'd extend the time by... what? Another five minutes? When did you send him away?"

"Approximately 20 minutes ago."

"Thank God," I said and instantly drooped, flopping into the chair, "I can finally breath like a normal person again."

"Yes, indeed, now," he said, leaning back in his own chair. He crossed his right leg over his left and crossed his hands, index fingers and thumbs pointing up to the ceiling, "We have to discuss your first job."

"Oh?" I said, perking up. Job? Yay!

"Yes. It will be tonight. And we will be leaving in the morrow, if things go well."

I frowned, "That's not much time to prepare."

"That's because this is a small job, as we discussed. Sebastian has already collected the information you'll need and placed it in this file," Ciel reached under his desk and pulled out a large, manila envelope. It was rather thin. I reached for it, opening it up as Ciel continued, "You are, naturally, to be discreet about this."

I read through the summary page, "I'm stealing... information?"

"Yes," he said, "The Queen has ordered us to find and catch Jack the Ripper. Jack targets young women, and is when performing a murder, does so quite ritualistically. From these facts, Sebastian has interviewed with many individuals, and from there, we narrowed down our suspects to five people. The person you will be investigating is the Viscount, Lord Druitt, who is suspected of working both with underground trafficking organizations and sorcerous circles."
