I glanced at Virgil, who was buried beneath blankets and grumbling about being able to care for himself. I would have agreed, had it not been for the previous conversation, which showed I needed to make sure he actually slept tonight.

I rolled my eyes as he continued, closing my laptop. He straightened up as soon as I did so, and stopped complaining. "Hey! Why'd you shut it off?"

I raised an eyebrow at him, which I find myself doing often. "It's eleven'o clock. We need to sleep."

He seemed confused now, and I tried with all my willpower not to smile. "But it's so early.."

I rolled my eyes, again and sighed. "For most people it's a decent time to go to sleep."

Virgil grumbled and laid down, his back to me. I could hear a faint, "good night Princey," through his grumbling and smiled.

"Good night emo." I turned my back to his too, but decided to stay awake until I knew for certain he was asleep. At some point, he flipped over, sighing. It was very clear that he couldn't get comfortable, so I didn't comment.

Eventually I heard his breathing slow and knew he was asleep. I flopped over onto my other side and smiled faintly at him, remembering earlier today, blushing faintly but ultimately deciding I hadn't minded. It was nice to wake up like that.

I don't know how long I gazed at him, but it must have been a fair amount of time, and I knew I needed sleep too. I sighed, closing my eyes and tempting myself to sleep, but taking longer than usual.

I was extremely close to drifting into unconsciousness when I heard a sniffle from beside me. I opened my eyes in confusion, glancing over to Virgil, who was crying in his sleep.

A nightmare.

I smiled softly and moved closer, wrapping my arms around him in attempt to calm him down. He seemed a bit calmer, but was still trembling.

I hummed and rubbed circles on the other's back, relaxing after a little while, all signs of the nightmare gone.

I tried to move away but I found myself in the same position as earlier, blushing fiercely. I had one arm trapped beneath his head, which was tucked into my shoulder. His arm across my chest, and his legs tangled in mine.

I was comfortable, but my face was burning. I found no way out of the situation so I just cherished it for a moment.

I may not be able to date him, so that was the closest thing I could get to it.

I smiled and moved my hand through his hair, surprised at how soft it was. It was dark brown, with faded purple highlights that were almost invisible. The other leaned into my chest and I gulped thickly, my blush becoming a more prominent red.

I dropped my hand away from his hair, and looked at my ceiling, trying to calm my racing heart before it imploded.

The smaller one mumbled something in his sleep and I almost had a stroke because of how adorable he was.

I smiled even more and finally let myself sleep, tangled up with the dark and stormy teen beside me.

...

I woke up before the other, in the same position I fell asleep in. I yawned and blinked down at him.

He still smelled of coffee and chocolate, and I took in a deep breath, hoping to calm my ever beating heart. Virgil groaned and squeezed his eyes shut, causing me to let out a stifled chuckle.

He gulped and blinked groggily a couple times, curling even more into me. I smiled in amusement as he realized that I wasn't just a pillow and jumped back, his face extremely red.

I yawned and stretched my arms. "Good morning emo. How'd you sleep?"

He inhaled and gulped, glancing over at me warily. I smiled at him in return, to which he instantly looked away, clearly flustered. It was extremely amusing yet adorable to watch.

"Good..." He gulped again, pulling the blankets over his head.

I chuckled and got up from the bead, to which he untucked himself and looked at me, mildly disappointed and my heart fluttered. I decided to tease him, per usual.

"Don't look so disappointed~" I stuck out my tongue as I stretched my arms over my head and popped my back.

His face grew even more red and he pulled himself back under the covers. "I-I'm not."

I rolled my eyes, pulling the blanket away from him, and grabbing his hand to yank him up and out of bed. He squeaked as I did so, and I felt the stereotypical butterflies in my stomach that would be described in some sort of trashy fanfic.

A/N: Fourth wall? What's that?

He fell into me and immediately pushed himself away, clearly flustered. I smiled and dragged him with me to the kitchen for breakfast, him grumbling as we went.

I pulled the cereal down from on top of the fridge and grabbed two bowls, humming as I did so. "You seem much better than yesterday. I'm going to assume you're much better now, well, enough to take care of yourself."

He let out an indignant gasp and I raised an eyebrow at him. "I could have taken care of myself in the first pla-"

I cut him off, chuckling. "You are one of the most stubborn people ever. You couldn't even stand yesterday."

Virgil rolled his eyes as I placed the cereal in front of him, sitting down on the other side of the counter. We were across from each other, fairly quietly while we ate our breakfast.

I looked up at him at one point, for who knows why, and found myself scanning his features. It was almost stalker-ish, but I was too crestfallen to care. His freckles and eyes were the most beautiful things I had ever seen, yet he covered them both with his bangs or makeup.

I rarely ever got the chance to see his freckles, so I found myself trying to catch as many glimpses as I could.

But eventually, he looked up and caught my eyes. We both blushed deeply but I decided to be a cheeky motherfu- and winked, causing him to choke on his cereal. He didn't comment though, and just kept his eyes down.

I smiled at my small triumph to make him blush, even though it was the easiest thing to do, ever.

A/N: Sorry for how short this is, my creativity is dying as of late.
