"Dad, Dad, hurry!" Izuku called out when Hisashi walked in the door, poking his head into the hallway. "The new rankings are coming out soon! I wanna see what your first official rank is!"
Hisashi chuckled and ruffled Izuku's hair. Ah, fatherly affection, how it's been missed. "I'll get everything set up so we can look after dinner."
Suprisingly, Tenko was excited too, but he wasn't as energetic about it. Dinner was a quick affair, and as Hisashi was setting up the TV to view the new rankings (there were snacks and blankets to set up too), the Bakugou family all poured into the house and settled on the couch with the Midoriya's. (In two other parts of the city, there were other children eagerly waiting for the announcements. One was being squashed by many other little bodies, and the others were happy that their "father" let the eldest skip training that night.)
First there was a quick pan of those from ranks 5000 to 1001, then 1000 to 501 with some notable changes with events that influenced large changes. It was much the same for ranks 500-101, then 100-51. They still hadn't seen or heard mention of 'Musketeer', making Izuku almost weep at the realisation. There were some notable changes to some of the lower ranks in the top 50, then:
"The new number 36 is an unexpected addition to the top ranks. This will be this hero's first official ranking, so it's truly incredible that they've made it to the top 100, let alone the top 50. This hero is incredibly popular with the locals, will go out of their way to help even in the smallest of ways, and even has the record of fastest solved missing persons case and fastest solved kiddnapping. Though they don't have much business outside of Musutafu, they made a huge splash nationally when they came to assist in Kyoto against the villain War in an incredible short fight against the villain many other pros were struggling against. They then helped with rescue efforts, with 80% of the rescued being thanks to them and their sidekicks. That's right, the new number 36 hero is the charming and mysterious newcomer, Musketeer! We at the Heroes Assosiation can't wait to see just what else Musketeer will do."
Izuku was in tears, hardly hearing the loud cheers all around the room. He could hardly tell when he started hugging his father, and could hardly hear the pounding at the door. But he did, and it seemed like the only other person to hear it was his father. With the rest of the 50-11 ranks in the background, Hisashi got up to check the door. Izuku contended himself in taking some snacks Kurogiri offered, but quickly stopped when a loud "Lord!" rang through the house. Kurogiri heaved a long suffering sigh, while everyone else looked confused. Izuku knew his face was white as a sheet and his eyes were as wide as saucers.
Seemingly on autopilot, Izuku felt himself walk over to the door to see his father trapped in a bear hug from an amazingly small Gigantomachia at the genkan. "My Lord it's been so long! I have been looking everywhere for Lord, why did Lord disappear? Ah! But I saw Lord on the screens, I did. So I went searching for Lord, and I found you!"
Izuku became slowly more cognitive throughout Gigantomachia's speil, and managed to croak out a "Dad?" while staring at an increasingly uncomfortable Hisashi still trapped in a bear hug. This brought the unfortunate effect of the both of them looking over at Izuku, Hisashi in acceptance of their fate and Gigantomachia in quickly growing glee, if the boomed "It's a Little Lord!" was anything to go by. Izuku very suddenly found himself being caught up in the bear hug.
It took a while (and some threats from Hisashi), but Gigantomachia was introduced to everyone, and caught up on some of the happenings. He was also placed on guard duty for the house, as well as occasional bodyguard duty for the children.
Before Hitoshi met Izuku, his life was completely silent. Yes, other people made noise, but Hitoshi wasn't allowed to. He wasn't allowed to make any noise at the ophanage, whether it was a vocal noise, him bumping into something, him sneezing or coughing, or cries of pain. Absolute silence.
It wasn't any different that morning, the morning after the new rankings were announced. Hitoshi yawned, rubbing his eyes awake. He was happy that Izuku's dad was highly ranked. Maybe he could celebrate with them in the park? Hitoshi could only hope as he got out of his itchy and lumpy bed. He quickly threw on a t-shit and shorts, and walked as silently as he could down the orphanage stairs.
He got his breakfast silently, ate his breakfast silently, cleaned up silently, then left silently. The only time he was comfortable (let alone ALLOWED) with talking, was when he was with his friends. Which was new, but wholly welcomed. In fact they encouraged him to make noise. Hitoshi kinda wants to ask Izuku if he could teach him to sing. He'd heard singing before and wanted to try it, it seemed fun. He was still a little scared without Izuku around (what if someone from the orphanage heard him? What if he accidentally caught someone with his Quirk?), but he was getting better! He knew none of them cared what his Quirk was, and he was happy he could relax around them.
Only Katsuki was at the park, which was disappointing. Hitoshi understood why the Todoroki's weren't around - he knew that their father wasn't nice and was kinda like the older kids at the orphanage - but Tenko and Izuku not being there was a suprise. Apparently someone who used to work for their dad showed up and is getting settled in, Katsuki had explained. The two that were there still had fun anyway, even if what they could play was more limited. The mean kids knew to stay away when Katsuki was there too, he'd helped Izuku drive them away a few times.
All too soon Hitoshi had to head back. He waved goodbye to Katsuki and walked as slow as he dared. If he was too slow he wouldn't get any food, but if he was too fast he was more likely to get hurt.
Hitoshi entered silently, had dinner silently, and got ready for bed silently. He lay there silently while other kids kicked him, and he dragged himself to his bed silently.
Hitoshi is used to living a silent existence. But, Hitoshi thinks, making noises is much more fun.
Notes of Future-Past
Volume 1
Entry 4: Kurogiri/Shirakumo Oboro, right page
Birthday: May 5th
Height: 187cm
Blood type: Unknown
Quirk: Warp Gate/Cloud
Kurogiri can create portals through his mist, and can transport multiple people over long distances. Coordinate based. He can also seperate the base Cloud Quirk from the warping aspect, and use that similarly to how he could before he died.
At first very similar to how he was in the previous timeline, due to my interactions with him when he babysat Tenko and I he started to regain personality traits and certain memories from before he died. Even after that, he was still loyal and level-headed, but can go into bouts of excitement. Also more cheerful, and can joke around.
Kurogiri is still often used as taxi/chaperone, but after regaining his memories he became one of my father's sidekicks. He often works on underground missions (and therefor interacts with Erasurehead plenty), he also helps in rescue work, raids, and general patrols.
Incredibly caring, especially towards kids.
I heard that he might open a joint agency with Erasurehead and Present Mic, like they planned to do when they were all in school. I hope they do, they all still work incredibly well together even after all these years.
