Fresh start

Chapter 11

Tuesday

Betty's PoV

I woke up from my phone ringing next to me on my bed side table, when I grabbed it I looked at the screen and saw it said Kevin. 'Hey Kev' I croaked, 'just wanted to remind you about the drive in, can you come?' He asked and I could imagine him smiling on the other line of the phone. 'Yes i can. Also my mum wanted to meet you first so could we drive my house and hang out there for a bit instead of pops' I said biting my cheek, 'of course Betty, I would love to meet your mum anyway' he replied. I said bye and hung up the phone before getting out of bed and stretching.

I chose to wear a Burberry mini skirt with a black long sleeved top, I put my hair up into a ponytail before applying a small amount of makeup. After I ate and brushed my teeth I headed downstairs putting on my black combat boots and grabbed my beige long jacket. 'Bye mum' I yelled as I walked outside and closed the door behind me, I jumped into the car and my driver started the engine.

At school

I stepped outside almost tripping and walked over to Kevin who just got out of his car, 'your looking cute' he smiled as I linked my arm with his, 'Well it's my first time going to the drive in. I've got to dress nice' I said. We stepped into school and all I could hear was the sound of the gap beneath my heel being squished as they clicked on the floor, it sounded like when you sat in class and could hear the shoes of the teacher that was always such a bitch. 'So what are we watching exactly' I laugh grabbing my book from my locker, 'one of my favourites, Jaws' he smiled, I turnt my head now facing him and my eyes widened. 'Oh shit. I hate sharks' I laughed in a nervous way, 'I'll be there, don't worry' he said before I closed my locker door and we hooked arms once again and walked to the student lounge.

Veronica and Archie were sitting there in their own world not taking notice that we had walked in, jughead gave us a slight nod as a gesture of a hello. 'How are you? Chuck irritating you still?' He said as I sat next to him and Kevin sat in a single chair scrolling through instagram, 'Nope, not since you smashed him into a locker. I think that scared him off' I laughed, 'good. No one will mess with you under my watch, princess' he smiled leaning back and resting his arms on the sofa head. 'Good. I just want a normal high school experience, even though I missed pretty much all of it' I said with a shrug, 'so did you find out what your watching?' He asked, 'Jaws. But I'll probably spend most of the time hiding my face under a blanket' I giggled and fiddled with the rim of my skirt. 'Oh god, that giggle will be the death of me, I swear.' He laughed.

After school

I met Kevin outside Of the school building and we got into his car, I led him in the direction of my house until we reached it and he parked his truck outside. We got out and I straightened out my skirt and opened the front door letting Kevin in before closing it behind me. 'Him mum I'm home. Kevin's with me' I yelled and walked into the kitchen with Kevin behind me. My mum turnt around from what she was doing and gave me and Kevin a welcoming smile before skipping round the counter island. 'Hello Mrs Cooper, I'm Kevin Keller, one of Betty's good friends' he  said reaching his hand out to shake but instead my mum pulled him in for a hug, 'oh please, call me Alice' she replied letting go of him. 'Anyway I'm going to show Kev my room, we're going to the drive in around six' I smiled and my mum nodded. I grabbed Kevin's arm and pulled him up the stairs showing him around my house. I led him into my room and I could see the way he smiled even though he was behind me, 'it's so pretty' he said looking around and admiring my vanity desk. He walked over to my wall and looked at all the pictures hanging on the wall. 'Oh my god, that us and the gang' he said pointing to the picture I posted on Instagram that I had framed and hung on my wall, 'Yeh, of course. You guys are my new best friends' I smiled sitting down on my bed, he took a seat next to me and crossed his legs. 'So what do best friends do when they're round each others houses?' I asked, 'well we'd normally gossip, talk about life ,play games, watch movies.' I looked around my room before my eyes met with my Nintendo switch that was sitting on my chest of draws, I jumped up and grabbed it before connecting it to the tv, I took the small red and blue remotes before putting in just dance, Kevin stood up and I handed him the blue remote, 'have you ever played just dance?' I asked, 'duh, it's like one of my favourite games' he laughed.

Three hours later

We had played just dance for about 45 minutes and then we gossiped for an hour, we both shared story's about our life before we met each other and then we played board games.

We both grabbed our phones that were on charge and I got some money out of my draw, before we walked downstairs and put on our coats and shoes. We walked into the kitchen and hugged my mum goodbye before getting into Kevin's truck that had blankets and pillows in the back. 'I'm so excited' I squealed as I clipped in my seatbelt and Kevin drove off.

We found a spot in the middle off the drive in, it was the perfect spot, no one could block our view. We jumped out the car and I set out the blankets whilst Kevin got popcorn and cokes. I positioned myself on the left side of the back of the trunk and wrapped myself in the red plaid fuzzy blanket, 'I'm back, I brought us a small popcorn to share and two cokes, and yours is no sugar' I heard Kevin say, he jumped onto the truck making it shake a bit and handed me my drink, 'Thanks' I smiled, he sat down and after small talk the movie began.
