Chapter 21

Betty's POV

The next day was Sunday and I slowly woke up from the faint sound of my mum knocking on my door. "Come in." I yawned, rubbing my eyes and sitting up. She came in with her dazzling smile, with her hair curled and a cup of tea in her hand. "Ooooo why are you dressed so nice?" I asked taking the cup out of her hand and taking small sips. "I'm going to apply for a job at the register, Riverdale's newspaper." She replied. "What? Why didn't you tell me." I laughed placing the cup down on my antique bedside table and standing up. "I didn't think too," she shrugged, "anyway, I'm leaving now. If your going out text me when you leave, I'll see you later sweetie." She added waving goodbye as she walked out of my bedroom door.

After I heard the door slam shut, I fell onto my bed and grabbed my phone. I had a miss call from Veronica so I swipe left to ring her back.
"Hey V, what's up?" I asked leaning onto my arm. "I was just wondering if you wanted to hang out today or this afternoon? You can come mine or I'll go yours or we can go pops or shopping." She replied. I was going to spend my day catching up on some books since I haven't read in a while but I guess I could do that later. "Yeh sure, if you want we can go for a walk, pick up pops and find a place nice to eat it." I said, thinking of how beautiful it would be sitting on green grass watching the clouds go by as we ate. "Its a date," she giggled, "I'll meet you at yours in ten minutes." She added and hung up the phone.

I decided on wearing a cute high waisted blue checkered dress, just in case any random person decided to get a picture. My hair was up in a loose high ponytail, I had a natural makeup look and white converses. After I had brushed my teeth there was a knock and the door and I ran downstairs to open it.

"Don't you look beautiful this fine morning, Elizabeth." Veronica smiled as I swung open the door, "Oh, thank you very much ma lady, and don't you look splendid, Veronica." I joked taking a small curtsy before grabbing my purse and phone. I closed the door and sent a quick text to my mum telling her I was with Veronica.
"So, lets go get pops first, then I'll show you a nice place we can eat." She said as we walked down the path.

"So, how was your sleepover?" Veronica asked with a smile. The thing I really liked about V is that she doesn't get jealous when I hang out with other friends, unlike some of my besties back in New York. "It was good, but during our own little party Jughead called and basically to sum it up, Toni referred to me as his girlfriend and he scoffed saying I wasn't and since then I've avoided him." I sigh and I watched as she rolled her eyes at how Jughead reacted. "Girl, he's not worth it if he is rude about you," She said, "I've know him a long time and he's a heart breaker, and I don't want to see you get heart broken, but then he is also sensitive and emotional once you break past the walls he built around his heart." She added. "That is not helping." I laughed and she joined.
"He may not show it but he really does enjoy being around you, you actually got him to dance the other night, I've only seen that once. It was when we were kids and Archie and Jug were in their treehouse and as Archie was climbing down, Jughead scared him and it cause Archie to fall and break his ankle. Jughead felt guilty so at a birthday party when Archie told Jughead to dance, he actually did." Veronica smiled at the memories she had. I wished I was here for those. I wish I met everyone years ago. "Can we go to their tree house one day, I want to see some old photos." I smiled and she nodded in agreement.

We had reached pops by now and ordered the classic burger, fries and milkshake, to go. We were both leaning on the counter talking about how excited it's going to be when we go to New York, when two figures walked in. "Oh. Hi Ronnie and Betty." Archie grinned, taking a glance at me but then relaxing his eyes on Veronica who was blushing beside me. "Hey," V giggled biting her lip, "I'll be back in a sec B, don't kill Jug." She whispered in my ear before taking a seat next to Archie in a booth. My eyes shifted from the new happy couple to my shoes. "You didn't text me back. Are you okay?" Jughead said sitting down on the stool next to where I was standing. "Sorry, I was, uh, bathing and then I fell asleep straight after." I replied looking up from my feet. "How was your sleepover?" He asked with a smile. God did I hate the way his smile had such a spell on me. He was acting that he didn't say anything wrong, but then at the same time he didn't know I was listening. "Great." I shortly replied crossing my arms and nodding my head. "Betts, are you sure your okay? Are you mad?" Jughead asked again rubbing my arm. "I'm fine." I said with a maybe too sarcastic smile. Thankfully pops saved me by handing me the bag of pops food. I thanked him and walked over to the booth V and Archie were at. "Come on misses giggles. Kiss your lover goodbye and let's go." I smile leaning on the table to get their distraction. Veronica's cheeks blushed a shade of a rose before turning to him and pecking his lips then standing up. "Bye." She smiled, I linked my arm with her and walked out the diner.

I held the greasy pops bag in my free hand whilst veronica led me down a small alleyway. We reached a road that had gates to a small park. Once we had found a clear, clean table and bench we took a seat and i placed the white bag on the table. "So, have you and Archie made it official yet?" i asked grabbing my milkshake and sipping the straw. "no, we said we'd go on another date or a few more before we have any labels. I think we're going out this week before me and you go New York." she replied biting into her burger. "We need to plan our outfits out for that," i said and she nodded, "also are you coming to the gym tomorrow?" i asked. "if i can, i'd love to!" she smiled.

We continued on with small talk until she had finished and i was full so i chucked the remains of my burger and fries away. Veronica walked with me back to my place and then called her limo to pick her up.

Once she left i changed into my pyjamas and sat on my bed reading a book.
