Fresh start

Chapter 4

Betty's POV:

Once I met up with Veronica at my locker we began to walk to our table 'how was the blue and gold' she smiled, 'well we didn't do any work as it was all done so we just talked' I replied. 'About what' she asked, 'well I know he's a serpent and that he hangs around with you lot and his friends from his gang and that he's been friends with Archie since he was born and with you since he was thirteen' I smiled. 'You remember a lot' she laughed.

When we reached the table I slid in the seat next to Jughead. 'Hey guys' Veronica said sitting next to Archie and Kevin. 'Archie I've been desperate for you to play a song' I smiled. 'Yeah sure, I'll play you something tomorrow when I bring in my guitar.' He grinned. 'So Betty, I had this fabulous idea' Veronica said. 'Go on' 'well I was wondering if you wanted to tryout for Cheerleading with me' she smiled. 'I don't know, I've never done cheerleading before' 'you should try it' Archie nodded. ''I can teach you, please B' Veronica said. 'Ok, I have always wanted to be apart of a cheer squad' I giggled. 'I'm sure you'll be able to do it' Jughead said as he bit into his burger.

After school

When the last bell went, I headed to my locker and put away my things before saying bye to everyone. I got into my car and the driver took me home.

'Hey Mum' I said as my dad was at work. 'Hi sweetie, how was school?' She said as she was chopping a tomato. 'Good' 'anything interesting happen today?' She asked. 'Not really. I joined the Blue and Gold which is the school newspaper with Jughead and I was going to ask if I could stay at school till four tomorrow so I can try out for cheerleading' I smiled as I took of my shoes. 'Of course but be careful of cameras' she said.

Once I was upstairs I got dressed into my sports wear and grabbed my AirPods and my phone. I went downstairs and saw my parents talking ''I'm going for a run' I said as I tied up my shoe lace. 'Ok Elizabeth be back in an hour and don't try go meet with your friends' my father replied.

When I'm running I feel free. Weightless, I like to listen to my favorite music it keeps me going. In a way runnings my safe place.

As I was running through the town I saw a noticeable ginger haired boy walking towards me. 'Hey Betty' he said. 'Hi, what you up to' I asked running on the spot. 'Oh I was walking home, I've just come from football practice' he smiled as I walked with him in the direction of my house. 'Where do you live' I asked. 'Elm street' 'no way, I do too' I laughed. 'Wanna walk with me' he asked. 'I'm supposed to be running but sure' I said taking out my AirPods and putting them away.

We had reached my house so I stopped 'this is me' I said waving at him, 'same I live there' he said pointing to the house next door. 'Wouldn't be shocked if our windows were opposite each other' I laughed. 'Wait-' I said and pointed to my window he did the same. 'So we live on the same street, next door neighbors and our windows face each other'' We both laughed. 'Bye I'll see you at school' I said as I walked in my door.

'I'm back' I said as I took of my shoes and got a drink from the kitchen. 'Who was that you were speaking to' my mum asked. 'Oh that's was Archie turns out we're neighbors' I shrugged. 'I'm going to take a shower' I said as I ran upstairs. I went into my bathroom and got into the steamy shower.

The next morning

I woke up and got dressed into a white turtle neck and a beige plaid dress over the top. I left my hair flowing over my shoulders and grabbed one of my mini backpacks.

When I was downstairs I ate breakfast and brushed my teeth. 'I'm going to go' I said as I put on my shoes on. 'Ok sweetie, see you later' my mum gleamed. I walked out the door and got into the car.

At school

When we arrived I got out and looked around for Veronica. I couldn't see her, instead I saw Jughead speaking with people who had the same jackets as him. I walked over to them and smiled, 'hey Jug, hi people I haven't met' I giggled. 'Hi Betts where's Veronica' Jughead asked. 'I don't know, where would she be' 'maybe the students room' he said. 'Where's that' I asked. 'I'll show you' said a pink haired girl. 'Thank you..' 'Toni, Toni Topaz' she smiled. 'Nice to meet you Toni I'm Betty' I smiled as I walked with her into the school building.

'How do you know Jughead' she asked. 'Well I joined not that long ago and I sit with him at lunch and I work on the blue and gold with him' I answered. 'How do you know him' I asked. 'We've been best friends since we were nine and we are both part of the serpents' she smiled. 'Yeh he told me about that. South side Serpents right?' I said. 'Mhm, anyway this is it' she nodded to a room where I saw Veronica near the vending machine. 'Thank you, I'll see you around' I smiled.
