Fresh start

Chapter 18

Betty's PoV

Jughead climbed off the bike after me and faced me whilst I straightened out my dress and hair. 'Do I look messy?' I asked tilting my head, 'No, you  look very gorgeous.' He smiled. I took him by surprise when i placed a soft kiss on his lips and held onto his hand, 'come on then, show me around' I smiled as we walked towards the door.

'So that's the bar, Toni normally works there but it's party night so she's not,' He said pointing to the wooden counter, 'that is the stairs up to the serpent kings office' he added pointing to the stairs. 'Who's the king' I asked, 'Well no one at the moment, but I'm trying to be it but there's also someone else who wants to be king' he said, 'What do you have to do and who is the other person?' I questioned, 'Sweetpea. It seems silly but we decided on doing dares they can be extreme but not to extreme and whoever refuses first loses and the other is the serpent king' he replied. 'So at Cheryl's party when I saw you two talking and you said deal, he told you a dare' I stated and he nodded.

He led me through a crowd of people towards Toni. 'Hey Topaz' Jughead said once we sat down on the stools next to her. 'Finally you guys are here, you took your time,' she smirked and I started blushing like crazy, 'I was starting to think you were going to ditch our sleepover for him' she added and I shook my head. 'Obviously not, I'd rather spend a night with you anyway Toni' i said being a tease towards Jughead. 'Ouch. I'm hurt' he fake gasped and held his hand to his heart. 'You should be. It's not every night you get the chance to spend it with the one and only Elizabeth Cooper' I smirked and he playfully rolled his eyes. 'And by the way Toni, your looking hot right now in that dress' I complimented and she smiled 'thank you, and your looking sexy too.' Jughead furrowed his eyebrows, 'What' I laugh, 'I can't tell if you guys are just being really good friends or flirting' he said making me and Toni giggle. 'I mean, she is very hot, she has a great personality and she's extremely nice' I teased and Toni laughed. 'Are you jealous Juggie, that me and Toni have a flirty friendship' I giggle. 'I just don't like sharing my girl,' he pouted, 'I'll just ignore it as long as you guys don't plan to kill me so you guys can become a couple' he said and we laughed, 'No promises Jones' I Winked.

"Hi guys" Veronica smiled as her and Archie approached us, "hey," I said and then stood up taking Veronica's hand, "come on, let's go talk. Toni do you want to come." I asked, "nah it's fine, I'll sit here and listen to these two" she replied and pointed towards Jug and Arch.

Me and Veronica took a seat on some stalls a couple feet away from the others. "So, how was it?" I grinned and rested my face on my hand. "Amazing," She gleamed, "B I'm not kidding, it was like a dream. We went to an Italian restraunt and then after, we watched the stars in the sky on top of a roof. It was so romantic. We kissed too." She giggled and I clapped my hands together squealing. "I'm so happy for you. The next school break, will be great. We can go on double dates and go on like a couples holiday." I smiled and she nodded. "Wait." She abruptly said, "couples holiday? Are you saying you and Jug are like official?" She asked. I opened my mouth to say something but the only thing that left my mouth was a small sigh. I closed it and took a second to think over the fact we haven't actually said we were anything? Was I just another one of his hookups? Well I hope the fuck not. I did not just let him see me half naked for there to be no emotions attached. "I'll get back to you on that." I said and she nodded.

After small talk we grabbed Toni and the boys and dragged them to the dance floor. "Where's Kev?" I yelled over the music. "Oh he met some serpent before you guys got here, and now they're of somewhere." Veronica replied.

When they were dancing, Betty became one with the music and let every bad emotion disappear as she danced. She needed this as badly as she needed to breath. To help her feel free. Like no one knew who she was. Like no one was judging everything she does.
Dancing was always a way of escaping your inner thoughts.

Betty's POV

As I was flowing with the music, I couldn't help but smile. Being here with my friends, laughing about absolutely nothing, singing along to songs even if we sound like we're dying. It created one of the best feelings.

Toni showed Betty around her old trailer, which was very similar to Jughead except there were two rooms in Toni's trailer; one for her and the other for her father. She explained to Betty on the way to the trailer park that her dad is out of town for a week so no one else is home.

'Do you want to borrow some pyjamas?' Toni asked Betty as they entered Toni's room. Betty responded with a nod and a soft smile, Toni turnt around, pulled out a checkered black and pink set and handed it to her. 'Thank you.' Betty smiled standing up and walking into the small turquoise bathroom to change.

Once Betty had exited the bathroom she knocked on Toni's bedroom door to double check that she was dressed, 'you can come in' Toni yelled from the other side. Betty pushed the door open and took a seat on the double bed in the middle of the room opposite Toni. She pulled her laptop out from under her bed and put on a movie. They both laid on their fronts watching the screen. 'So since you know about me and Jughead,' Betty began facing Toni, 'Care to share your love life' Betty smirked making Toni laugh and roll on her back before sitting up, crossing her legs. 'It's not a thing. I can't find anybody to go on a date with' Toni sighed and Betty sat up and frowned. 'I'll help find you someone, I helped Veronica get with Archie. I'm like Cupid' Betty said and Toni nodded with a giggle.

After the movie the girls decided to bake cookies since they weren't tired and had nothing else to do. Toni suggested it and Betty straight away agreed remembering how much fun she had as a kid when her sister and brother lived with her and they'd spend many weekdays in the kitchen baking and cooking together. After Charles (her brother) left, Polly would act as if she still wanted to hang around with Betty, but how much she made herself believe it Betty knew that Polly would rather be somewhere else, so after months of the days they spent together slowly fading away Betty told Polly that she understands if she didn't want to spend time with her as much as before.
