It had been days since Betty had left the house but on the next Monday she forced herself out from under her warm duvet covers. She had a shower, got dressed and tried to make herself look as alive as possible, smothering the bags under her eyes with pale concealer.

As she walked to school she read the many texts from multiple people she had yet replied to. It never a occurred to her how many people would contact her on a daily basis, but she guest that because of her absence and her going M I A from all media's people were worried. When she opened the app she saw some messages from jughead,

Betts why weren't you at school?

Are you okay?

Veronica said something happened but she won't tell me what.

Do you want me to come over?

Ronnie keeps telling me you want to be alone.

Baby, I need to know if your okay. Veronica says you are but i just want to make sure.

Once she had skimmed across them, Betty replied with the simple I'm okay, before closing off her phone and carrying on her journey to school. She really wasn't okay, but it wasn't like she was going to write paragraphs after paragraphs at how mad, sad, disappointed she was. It's not like he'd care that much to read it all.

Betty had slowly began to feel better ,not okay but better, but she couldn't say the same for her mother. Alice was shattered. Betty had barely seen her since the day she had been told what had happened, they'd only bumped into each other on the way to the bathroom a few times. Luckily the two had Veronica looking after them after school, the raven haired girl made them dinner and would bring it to their rooms every evening, she'd clean the dishes and occasionally watch a movie with Betty when the girl felt like being comforted.

"B?! What are you doing here?" Betty heard the familiar sweet voice call out, the clicking of her heels as she made her way over to the blonde. "I had to come to school. I can't stay off any longer." Betty sighed. Veronica gave her a sympathetic look as she pulled the girl into a hug and relaxed her arm over Betty's shoulders once they pulled away.

"I didn't tell anyone. I though you can tell them when you feel like it or if you feel like it." Ronnie said, squeezing the girls shoulder. Betty smiled softly as they walked into the school. Betty instantly became more awake as they walked into the doors, seeing teenagers laughing and talking, the colours of posters and lockers. Her and Veronica walked In peaceful silence as they made their way to the student lounger where everyone else should be.

Betty's heart bumped faster as they approached the doorway and she saw the crown shaped beanie sat on jughead's wavy hair, he was talking to archie who was sat opposite him, slouched back against the chair. "Hi Veronica.....and Betty. Your back." Archie chirped, pushing himself up from his slumped position on the chair and taking Veronica's hand. Jughead's head whipped round and he flashed a wide smile at the sight of the beautiful Betty Cooper. He jumped up from the couch and quickly ran found it and wrapped Betty in a tight bear hug, planting small kisses all over her hair, he didn't care who saw right now, seeing her for the first time in a while made him the happiest he'd been in a week. "I missed you." He mumbled against her hair as he led her to the sofa. The two fell back onto the couch and jughead rested his arm around Betty's shoulder. "I missed you too. Maybe later, if you want, you can come home with me and stay the night." Betty said, her pleading eyes begging him to agree, which of course he did.

....

Betty was exhausted by the end of school. Her arms aches from the heavy stack of books  she had held throughout the day. Betty stood at her locker, pushing books onto the small shelf inside. "You ready?" She heard the familiar deep voice say from behind. Betty nodded and swung her bag over her shoulder when jughead closed her locker and they walked side by side out of the school and along the path.

"Are you okay? Like really." Jughead asked. The small street was quiet, only a small ginger cat skipping along the sidewalk. Betty sighed and looked up at his face, she forced a small smile but it dropped to a frown. "My dad,...he cheated on my mom, many times." The girl mumbled and rubbed her hand against her bicep. Jughead frowned and wrapped an arm around her shoulder. Neither said another word as they walked home,  both in deep thoughts.

The house was silent, Jughead found it creepy, he'd never entered the Coopers residence without hearing Mrs Cooper sweetly welcoming him or a small chatter between Hal and Alice. But today it was different. The red door didn't seem so fascinating as it once was before, it was as if the colours had been drained from the house, taking out every part of happiness.

The walls were bare. That was the first thing he noticed when in the house. All the pictures had obviously been torn down and placed somewhere no one would see. The kitchen smelt like a cheap air freshener, not the normal sweet smell of baked goods. Jughead followed Betty upstairs after both of them pulled off their shoes.

"How's your mom?" He asked as they passed the woman's bedroom door. Betty shrugged and shoved open her own bedroom door, she walked over to her bed and laid against the duvet and pillows. Jughead closed the door behind him and walked over to his girl who he'd never seen so sad. She looked so broken.

"Baby, it'll get better. I promise." He whispered and wrapped his arms tightly around her after laying beside the blonde. "But what if my mom doesn't, Jug?" Betty mumbled, nuzzling her nose deeper into the crease of his neck. His scent calmed her, she missed it over the past few days. Jughead stayed silent. He didn't know how to respond, normally when you tell people it's all going to be okay they'd agree and go on with a conversation, but this was the first time he had gotten a reply that he couldn't find an answer for. "It's all going to get better." He repeated, maybe saying the same thing would give her reassurance, he didn't quite know.

A/N: gross. I'm getting so bored of writing this. If you guys have been wondering where I've been, I've started other fanfics (bughead) and won't be publishing them till I've finished at least half because I feel more motivation when they're not published.
