Sequel to my 'watching over you' chapter, since people wanted a reunion. I don't want to write the doctors amazing escape coz I lack the creativity for that- but I'll leave u with a cute reunion oneshot that this fandom so desperately needs :,( .

Yaz could feel her heart beating a million miles an hour, sending jitters all over her body but somehow managing to be stuck to the spot. She could feel her knees wobbling at the sight, her eyes glued to it. She didn't care how odd she looked, stood outside at such an early hour in her pj shorts, huge hoodie and scarf. All she cared about was that blue telephone box slowly appearing at the end of the street.

She held her breath, Her hands quivering and eyes watering nervously as the Tardis fully formed. It thumped as the structure hit the concrete, the doors not opening and leaving Yaz to stare at it in awe. She couldn't believe it was actually here in one piece, the alien phone booth that took her and her friends on all those unforgettable adventures.

But she couldn't say that was what she was hoping to see alone.

The silence was deafening, seeming to suck the air out of the plentiful morning and leave Yaz breathing shortly and desperately. The world had stopped spinning, birds had stopped flying. There was nothing moving except her and the Tardis. She couldn't feel the cold on her bare legs, or the fluffy texture of her hoodie sleeves on her arms. Even her emotions were at a stand still, watching her through her eyes in absolute disbelief at what was happening.

After what felt like a lifetime, there was a creak of the Tardis door as it slowly began to open. Yaz thought she was going to be sick, feeling her heart in her throat- in a somewhat good way. Her eyes wondered up, and welled as they met with the familiar hazily green eyes that grinned back at her. "D-Doctor?" She barley squeaked out, having to hold her face to stop sobs.

The doctor stepped out of the Tardis, and with that the whole world seemed to light up. Her gorgeous smile was welcoming as ever, her blonde hair messy and unkept and her usual confidence was radiating. Her eyes were glued on Yaz, looking her up and down and softening her stance in utter relief. She let out a breath she didn't know she was holding in, wanting to take her in her arms already.

Yaz ran her eyes along the doctors figure, almost checking she wasn't dreaming. She looked bruised and tired, her braces hanging off her shoulders and scratches covering her arms and legs. Bags hung under her eyes, but she looked as pretty as ever. She felt her cheeks heating up, but was interrupted by warm tears dripping down them.

"Is this- is this real?" Yaz whimpered to herself, covering her mouth with her sleeve in a fit of happy sobs as the doctor smiled warmly and nodded. She stepped closer, almost carefully as to not overwhelm her. Every step she came nearer, Yaz worried she would disappear again. Just phase away and stay gone. Leave her alone again. She cringed at the memory of herself sat crying tirelessly on the sofa after they'd returned without the doctor.

She'd never felt so alone, so worthless, so broken. She didn't know how she was going to go on knowing she'd never see the doctor again, how she'd ever find the strength to get out of bed, to talk to anyone ever again. How she'd learn to love again, how she'd ever get over the doctor. The women who fell to earth and straight into her heart. She opened her eyes and sniffed, relieved as the doctor still stood there.

The blonde opened her mouth to speak, but was lost for words. She didn't know what to say, how to express how much she missed Yaz, how to emphasise how sorry she was for leaving her, how to explain how she'd got here. She closed her mouth and stuffed a laugh, meeting eyes with Yaz's glossy ones and feeling frozen in her gorgeous gaze. She looked stressed and tired, and it sent guilt through the doctor.

She reached a hand forward and ran it across Yaz's cheek, brushing away the tears and lingering it there lovingly. She tilted her head, letting her eyes well with the tears she'd been holding in for so long. "Yaz, it's me." She said, biting her lip as the tears escaped her eyes.

"I'm home..."

It was barely a whisper, but it sent Yaz's emotions sky high. She held her breath behind her huge smile, before reaching forward desperately and pressing their lips together. The doctor lent into the kiss and savoured it, admiring the softness yet lustful nature of Yaz's lips. They clung to each other for dear life, afraid they might slip away again and leave this tender moment unfinished.

They broke apart for breath, staring at each other with wet eyes and happiness in their hearts. Yaz wrapped her arms around the doctors shoulders and pulled her into a hug, placing her face into the crook of her neck and savouring her sent. The blonde hugged tightly around her waste and rubbed her cheek against the softness of her hair, not bothering to hide her sobs. She was just happy to have Yaz in her arms, right where she belonged.

"I thought I'd lost you." Yaz whimpered. "I actually thought you were gone." She sighed deeply, wiping her face against the doctors coat and savouring the texture. The doctor shivered at the words, the thought of Yaz being depressed over her death plaguing her mind. She knew she'd had mental health issues before, and the idea of causing her to relapse stung deeply.

The doctor pulled away slightly, still keeping her hold on Yaz's waste and staring deep into her eyes. "Listen to me, Yazmin, I will never leave you again. I love you so much." She breathed, Yaz running her hands up her neck. She looked away shyly, blushing intensely behind her tearstained cheeks. She wanted to believe her, but her heart was still shattered from the last time.

"Can you promise me that?" She quivered at the thought of being alone again, just her and the darkness of her mind to tamper with her. She knew the doctor was back, but for how long? The blonde glanced away awkwardly, but forced herself back up determinedly. She lent in and kissed Yaz again, quickly pulling back and smiling reassuringly. "I promise."

"You couldn't get rid of me if you tried." She giggled, rubbing Yaz's shoulder softly as she cracked a smile too. Yaz lifted the scarf off her own neck and wrapped it around the doctor's, standing back and feeling her usual grin slip back onto her face. She'd missed it. The doctor looked like her old self, the doctor she'd first met. Bubbly, confident, careless, quirky. The woman she fell in love with.

After the Master, the Doctor had been different. Colder, sadder, serious and brutal. Yaz loved her unconditionally, of course she did, but she worried she may have lost the person she truly fell for. The person she truly loved. But now, in this moment, all that was gone. There was no stiffness, no sadness, no heartache in the doctor, she was radiating joy and lightness.

And Yaz couldn't be happier to have her back.

"Come inside, you must be starving." Yaz chuckled, extending a hand which the doctor took and squeezed. They walked side by side, and all the hurt they'd ever felt healed in a second.

They were going to be alright, they knew it now.
