What goes up, must come down- as many would say. Most of the time this phrase is used to address a persons mood or success, describing that if something good occurs something bad will very often follow. It could be meant literally, like a balloon floating up will eventually come down again, but that's not often what people mean when saying such things.

However for the doctor, this phrase was meant very very literally.

The blonde was rushing around the Tardis early one morning, as usual, excited about a new discovery on a planet near by. She'd been tracking a distress signal sent from this planet many years ago for a lot of time, so long in fact that she'd abandoned the research many regenerations ago. She remembered vividly getting too frustrated trying to keep up with the signals, that she'd put all the information she had on it into a folder and put it on a shelf.

You can imagine the thrilling feeling she got when the Tardis alerted her that the signal was finally finished tracing, and came back conclusive along with a location and source of the call. She'd practically jumped for joy, having to wake the fam up at an ungodly hour just to tell them how excited she was. They were less than pleased, but what kind of travelling companions would they be if they weren't even a little curious?

"This is amazing! Unbelievable! I can't believe it- Wait I just said that, unbelievable implies I can't believe it, silly me. But this is still the most exhilarating, incredible and, well- unbelievable thing that's happened in years!" The doctor hopped and spun on her heals, dancing around the Tardis table singing to herself as the exhausted fam entered. They watched her for a few minutes before asking any questions.

Yaz had to admit, the Doctor was adorable when she was this excited. Her eyes would light up in a way you wouldn't believe, her smile seemed to grow bigger of that was even possible, her hands would shake and stim happily and it was as if she'd never felt happy before. She hadn't been in one of these moods since the master, so it was nice to see her spark return. The Khan felt her eyes go pebble, and she had to shake her head to focus again.

"So, what's all this commotion about then Doc?" Graham asked, making the doctor jump. She bounced on her toes for a few beats, unable to contain her excitement. "I'll explain later, but in short I've located a distress signal I've been chasing for years. I started researching it decades ago, but I gave up- but now I've found it!" She squealed, Yaz and Ryan sharing a look and giggling between them.

The blonde looked thoughtful for a moment before spinning back around to face the table of blinking buttons, tapping her finger against it lightly. "Just need to find that research, I started it so long ago I don't remember where I left it. Knew I should've done it digitally, who writes stuff down anymore?" She began looking around the Tardis for the folder- she only remembered it being a black binder stored on a shelf somewhere.

The fam looked too, using what little information they had about the files to search for it. "Look on the bottom shelves, i swear that's where I left it." She said, watching for each of her friends nods. They spilt up and looked through the multitude of rooms, pushing things off of every shelf they could find and flicking through pages of various folders with no luck. They were at it for hours, and it felt fruitless.

The doctor lent against the consul table, her buzz clearly deflating slowly much to Yaz's disappointment. "We've looked everywhere doc, no idea where you've put it." Graham said apologetically, rubbing her shoulder. "You really don't remember where it could be?" Yaz asked, earning a head shake. "I remember vividly putting it all in a black folder on a low shelf, only that was so many years back I suppose it could've been moved." She scratched her head.

Ryan entered the room with a smug smirk, tapping his foot as he waited for everyone's attention. Yaz cocked a brow as of to tell him to spit it out. "I think I found it, but it's a lot further away than you said." He gestured to follow him, the Doctor trotting after him quickly. They reached a room and watched as Ryan pointed to the highest shelf of 4, only just being able to run his fingertips along the edge.

"Blimey Doc, thought you said it was on a low shelf?" Graham chuckled, nudging the Doctor who's face was scrunched In confusion. She walked towards the shelf and reached for it, nearly being able to reach the second shelf but being miles off the third, better loan the fourth. She huffed. "Could've sworn it was the lowest one..." suddenly her mind flashed back to putting the file away, only she wasn't the doctor she was now.

She knew it was a while ago, but she didn't realise how many regenerations ago it must've been. Every body she'd been in before now was a man, and above 6 foot at least, so it would've made sense that that super super high shelf looked a hell of a lot lower back then. How embarrassing. She bit her lip and sighed, looking at Ryan sheepishly and glancing at the shelf. "Would you mind?" She gestured up, but Ryan's grin suggested he had other ideas.

"I'd like you to get it down, since it's such a low shelf and all." She chuckled, Graham and Yaz trying their best not to laugh too. The doctor looked up at the shelf and scrunched her nose, reaching her arm up to demonstrate just how stupid that was. The two boys backed away, watching with giggles as the blonde jumped and toddled to reach even the shelf under the folder. Yaz held a thought in her head, though didn't know if she had the willpower to do it.

she stepped behind the blonde and wrapped her arms around her waist, squeezing her gently and lifting her higher. The doctor squealed a bit in surprise, before sussing out the situation and reaching atop the shelf and scooping the folder into her arms. Yaz lowered her back down softly, dropping her but letting her hands linger around her torso for longer than was required. The doctor realised they were still connected and blushed, too awkward to engage further but not wanting to ruin the moment.

She lent back subtlety into Yaz, smiling hard as her friend responded by tightening her grip on her middle. She felt her neck leaning back, wanting to press a kiss to Yaz's cheek so badly but worrying about the aftermath of doing so. Yaz too felt the desire to nuzzle her face into the blonde's neck, but before considering any further noticed Ryan and Graham sharing questioning looks.

"That the folder?" She asked, the doctor clearing her throat and nodding. "Yep Yep, This is definitely the one- indeed, yes." She laughed awkwardly and lent forward reluctantly, Yaz releasing her grip to allow her to stand up. The boys nodded and led the way out of the room, leaving Yaz and the doctor to walk slowly behind. The Khan quickly pressed a kiss to her blonde time- lords cheek before rushing off.

She blushed hard, almost forgetting about the previously important documents in her hands and almost dropping them. She held her breath and opened the binder, still not being able to focus on the words on the page due to the fuzz in her cheeks.
