The doctor had been confused about her sexuality ever since she'd regenerated. She'd never liked men before, since she'd spent most of her lives as a bloke she'd never even considered it, but now she was a woman she felt as though she had to think about it more. She hadn't had a chance to think romantically before she befriended Yaz, and found herself head over heals for her.

That wouldn't have been an issue in any of her previous bodies, but now she was female she found herself scared to say anything. She'd met gay men and gay women before, she'd been a massive LGBT supporter even if she wasn't gay herself- how times had changed. She knew she was contradicting everything she'd ever told anyone about being open and honest with themselves and their sexuality by repressing her feelings for Yaz just because she was a girl, but she really didn't want the complications.

Jeez, this upgrade was harder than she thought..

She didn't know whether she needed to 'come out' to the fam as- well she didn't know what she was. Was she a lesbian because she was a girl who liked girls? Did it count because she used to be a man? Did timelords have a sexuality beyond liking men or woman, regenerated gender aside? It was definitely a confusing topic, one the doctor had hoped to avoid. Now it was at her front door, in the form of Yazmin Khan.

She eventually gave up and just tried to focus on being a good friend to her fam, rather than stressing out over over complicated love interests- but having Yaz's gorgeous face and charming smile staring at her day after day was withering her facade. Not to mention people constantly confusing them for a couple (theres only a curtain amount of times you can act dumb on the matter) and assuming that Yaz was gay when she was around the doctor.

The blonde felt near guilty about effecting people's first impressions of such a wonderful person just by existing, but she couldn't say she understood why. She hadn't even told anyone she fancied girls, how would people know to assume she was gay? And where on earth did Yaz come into that equation? It was puzzling, but she didn't want to make Yaz uncomfortable when she clearly wasn't interested in women the same way she was. So she backed off.

However, when the fam went clothes shopping after an incident on a recent adventure leaving them all soaked and covered in mud, societal standards really reared it's ugly head. The team strolled into a shop on the outskirts of London in the present, walking in a line and looking at their feet like a band of naughty toddlers. They were dripping wet and covered head to toe in oozing mud and dirt, leaving a trail of puddles and footprints as they approached the desk.

The clerk, a young woman probably no older than Ryan, looked up and rose her eyebrows in shock at the four people stood before her, opening her mouth to welcome them but no words leaving. She placed her book down on the counter and leant forward to listen as the doctor smiled at her. "Hello! Me and my friends were hoping to get some new clothes since- well you can probably guess, could you point us in the direction of a dressing room?" She said, her normal confidence present as ever.

The lady's forced smile seemed to soften at the doctors voice, her stance relaxing and her eyelids fluttering. Her new expression sent chills down Yaz's spine- different chills to the incoming hypothermia- jealously chills. "Yes of course, just down that hall for the gents, and down that one for yourself." She pointed a finger at each corridor leading off separately, returning her gaze back to the blonde. "If you needed any help selecting new clothes or getting out of those ones, I'd be happy to help." She grinned suggestively.

The obviously flirtatious comment went right over the doctors head, but had even Ryan and Graham giggling. Yaz could feel her blood boiling, but tried her hardest not to make a face. She tapped the doctor and smiled softly as she turned with bright eyes to look at her. "Let's go get out of these rags then, we'll meet you boys again in a second?" She suggested, earning nods from the group. They left the counter to visit the changing rooms, Yaz holding back a snigger at the look of the clerk who clearly hadn't noticed her originally.
