"Can you please stop for a second?" Karlie was getting impatient. Cara was jumping up and down in the back of her father's car, making it impossible to pulse at the right buttons to configure the GPS that had to lead them to their destination.
"I can't believe you are actually coming" The blonde's voice was so loud, irritating her more if it was even possible. The fact that it was seven in the morning wasn't helping either. They needed to leave early to arrive on time for the check, six long hours of road ahead them. Why did I agreed to this again? She grunted at the thought of screaming kids, including her friend. She loved her, but damn, she was annoying sometimes. She cheeked the gasoline left and sighed when she realized they had to stop in a gas station soon. I don't get paid enough for this.
Karlie managed to program the GPS with their destination and started the engine, causing an excited shriek at the back of the car. She couldn't help to let out a smile at the overexcited girl, she could swear that the dirty blonde didn't have more than five years sometimes.
"Why are you in the back?" Karlie noticed with a frown "In not a taxi driver you know"
"Do you know what time is it? I'm going to sleep and there's more room here" Cara took out a pillow of a bag and settled in the seats, getting comfortable.
"How rude you asshole" Karlie rolled her eyes at the sight of her friend sprawled all over the seats. Cara just gave her a wink and a cheeky smile before closing her eyes and falling practically asleep. Karlie was left with an open mouth at how her friend could just pass out like that, she swore under her breath, with the conviction that Cara just wanted a free drive and a few hours of sleep. She got out of the parking lot and started their journey, after putting some music, settling one of her playlist, knowing for sure that the heavy sleeper on the back wouldn't even notice.
The ride went smoothly, navigating for almost deserted roads and monotone landscapes. Karlie liked to drive, it always calmed her, but after two long hours of boring views and a complete turn of her playlist, she decided she needed a well deserved break. She parked on a lonely area with some picnic tables under a couples of trees, offering some shelter from the morning sun. Cara was still completely unconscious on the back seat, snoring from time to time. Karlie looked at her with disdain, wondering if she should wake her up or not. She stretched, her back, sore for being in the same position all this time, as she rested her head on the headrest, an incredibly deep loud sound scared her to death, making her jolt from the seat. She looked around her, confused, when she realized it had been Cara. How was it possible for a human being to make that underworld groan was above her understanding. Her heart was still beating fast, rumbling against her ribs due to the shock she just received when, in a rage for revenge, she lowered the car windows, pressing the car horn with full force, thanking for the first time in her life that the sound of that car's muzzle was ridiculously loud. Cara jumped with wide eyes and a loud gasp, hitting the roof of the car in the process, looking everywhere as she covered her now injured head.
Karlie was hysterically crying at the scene unfolding in front of her, unable to contain her laugher, while Cara was glaring at her, clearly mad, screaming profanities at her, even though a couple of seconds later she was giggling too.
"What the hell Karlie!" The taller girl couldn't even hear her, still recovering from the laughter attack, falling back in the fit of laughs when she saw the prominent eyebrows of her friend knitted together.
"You deserved it, I've been driving alone for two hours already, plus" She said raising her finger "You scared me too with your forty-year-old man snores, I've just maintained the cosmic balance"
