// Let's pretend real life is not a thing lmao
When she opened her eyes again, the light outside was dimmer, but not warmer. Karlie frowned at the sight, in any other normal day, sun rays would pierce through the leaves and draw figures on the wooden floor at that hour of the late afternoon. Because it was late, undoubtedly. She had slept in, since Taylor- oh, right.
They decided to take a nap, since they were exhausted from last night's lack of sleep, even more, after the work out season Karlie insisted on having. She wanted to stay in shape, yes, but for most part, she just enjoyed seeing Taylor suffer, because damn, it was fun.
Karlie turned her head around, the girl was still hugging her torso, even though she wasn't aware when she had turned away to face the window. Not that it mattered. She glanced at her watch, 19:02 pm. So late, Karlie didn't even remember the last time she could sleep that long in an afternoon. Despite all her common sense, she turned around fully to face Taylor. Her hair was a golden mess, covering her semblance, and before she could help it, Karlie brushed it aside. Taylor scrunched up her nose, provably ticklish of her own hair, and the brunette smiled at the sight.
What right did she have to be so adorable?
Taylor stirred, stretching her long legs while she rubbed her sleepy eyes, all under the curious gaze of her roommate. When her profound eyes finally settled in Karlie's, she realized she had been staring.
A small smile made it to Taylor's lips, her deep blue eyes reflecting nothing but warmth "Hey you" Her voice was deep and loaded with the grogginess proper after just waking up, and Kalie wondered why she hadn't stayed in bed all those previous days.
"Hi"
Taylor looked at her longly, lost in thought, but this time Karlie didn't mind the extra attention "You stayed"
"I was tired" Karlie shrugged as she refuged under the half truth, not wanting to admit that she didn't want to leave the girl's side just to come back later to a sad and mopey Taylor. Was this a step forward? It felt like one. Karlie was, no doubt, in a better mood. It could be, as well, the recompense of the extra sleep hours.
Then Taylor frowned at her, just like she had realized something "You were staring at me?"
The question caught Karlie with a low guard and a lump formed in her throat "N- no"
An obnoxious smirk appeared in the blonde's lips "Huh-huh"
"I was not"
"Oh, so I guess I just dreamt you looking at me when I opened my eyes"
"You were moving, it's normal I was casually looking over you"
Taylor's smirk widened, and Karlie could feel her face heat up at the lame response "Sure"
"Whatever" Karlie mumbled, this time sitting up, with all the intention of finally getting up if it wasn't for- yet again- Taylor's dead grip in her arm. Karlie rolled her eyes, too tired of Taylor's antics "Let go"
"No, no wait" Taylor whined, pushing Karlie back to the mattress "I'm sorry don't go"
Karlie huffed "I'm not mad, Taylor, I just genuinely want to get up-"
"Nonsense"
Karlie blinked at her, and Taylor stared back with determination.
"What?"
