//this is earlier and longer than usual, so, enjoy?

"Auch"

"Stop"

"Why are you being so brute?" Karlie whined, stirring in the bed helplessly.

"If you stood still this would be much more easy"

"And why can't you let the nurse do her job?"

"No"

"Please help" Karlie cried to the air. They were alone in the infirmary, nobody was going to hear her pleas, and Taylor rolled her eyes, slapping Karlie's arm to make her stay still.

"Shut up, Karlie" Taylor grunted, focussed in the injury in front of her. Taylor had been assigned to treat her friend. When they arrived at the infirmary, the nurse was in a hurry, since apparently two other kids, younger than them, had fallen badly at the other end of the camp, and she had no choice but to go there herself. The mid aged woman had indicated where was everything Taylor would need, leaving them at their luck, and she couldn't help but think how in a camp as big as that one, there was just one nurse, an old one, like, how did kids survive? How many had died already? "This needs to be treated now, and you know it"

The brunette huffed, throwing her head back to the pillow and swallowing another whine when Taylor's fingers went back to work.

Karlie had a pretty bad bruise in her chest, where the sword had collided forcefully mere minutes ago, and the skin was already taking violet and reddish tones. Taylor was feeling guilty to say the least, she may have attacked with more force than the necessary, and maybe she had forgotten that they didn't had the fencing swords she was used to back when she did fencing class in her youth, which were much more flexible, instead of the actually metal ones that they were given. How do they even allowed that? The nurse had examined quickly the injury and had entrusted Taylor to add a soothing and anti-inflammatory cream at it before leaving them alone. At least it would contain the pain for a while.

"I take better care of you when you fall" Karlie grumbled. She had her eyes closed and Taylor saw how she was gripping with force the sheets. It must actually hurt a lot. What if she had a bone fracture? How could an anti-inflammatory cream fix that? What if Karlie had to go? And all for Taylor's fault. God, she felt horrible.

"Well, I'm not a pussy like you, so I don't complain"

"Hey I'm not a- AH- Taylor!"

"Ups"

"Someone save me!" Karlie cried again.

"No one is going to hear you, keep it down drama queen"

"I'm not the drama queen here"

Taylor snorted, stopping her actions just to look at Karlie's eyes and raise an eyebrow, and the girl laying in the bed just poked her tongue at her. What a child.

"You are"

"I'm not"

"You are, sorry for hurting your pride"

Karlie grunted, but didn't say anything more, accepting her fate. Taylor finished putting the patches just like the nurse had indicated her, and rose to her feet. She looked down at the girl to examine her work, and couldn't help but blush a little. Karlie was lying there, shirtless and covering her chest with a towel she borrowed from the nursing equipment. Taylor's eyes roamed over her flat stomach and- wait- were those abs?
