Karlie was so quiet. It was driving Taylor crazy, the stillness of the air, the continuous silence. There was nothing more to do, everything was out there, Karlie knew everything, still, it seemed like nothing changed.
Had Taylor behaved badly? For sure, it had an argument of solid proportions behind it? Yes. Don't get her wrong, Taylor wasn't proud at all about what she had done, she knew she could have handled things better, and she definitely knew she had been selfish and mostly used Karlie in her favor without her knowledge- but- she guessed she just hoped for a change, a bad one, or a good one. Even yet, there she was, alone in the damn thirteen cabin, again, with nothing to entertain herself but her thoughts, and that was not healthy entertainment.
The bed was made, the floor clean, the window opened. It was the same routine every morning. Every morning she would wake up to an empty bed, every morning she would peak out to see if Karlie was there, every morning she would come back inside as alone as she exited. Taylor sighed, getting up and reaching her bag, searching for the book she had been reading for the last three lonely days and then dropped herself in the bed again.
Ah, yes, the bed.
That was a funny story. Well, no, it really wasn't-
-
"What are you doing here?" Lily looked at them, eyes wide in surprise before gazing them suspiciously "What in hell are you two doing with that?"
"It's broken"
"How have you managed to break a bed in just one day- how do you even break a mattress?"
"We haven't broke it" Karlie rolled her eyes "It was broken when we arrived"
"And what- why- What are you doing with that here?"
"Well, we couldn't leave it there, could we?"
"Actually, yes"
"I told you!"
Karlie grunted loudly and infuriatingly at her, responding the same answer to the same question Taylor had been doing half the way back to the camp "It's pollution to the f-o-r-e-s-t"
"Ugh I swear to god, next time you bring it all alone-"
"Oh please, shut up" Lily interrupted them, massaging her temple tiredly "It's too early for this and you two have given me a headache already"
Karlie huffed "The bar it's pretty low then"
"I haven't taken my coffee yet"
"Well, me neither, but here I am, dragging a useless mattress for a mile and a half through the woods to please this empty headed idiot from here" Taylor protested, drooping her end of the mattress to the floor dramatically, which landed with a soft thud on the dirty road.
"You are a real pain in the ass"
"Don't you even dare-"
"Enough!" Lily screamed "God, you're making me yell at this hour"
"We want another bed" Karlie stated, dropping the rest of the mattress and crossing her arms at the monitor, not after glaring at Taylor.
"I don't have count of the available mattress"
"Then ask someone"
"I just want my coffee"
Taylor shrugged "And I want minimum acceptable housing conditions, but look at us"
