She had somehow managed to get the Lioness to sleep and left her chambers only to step right into Tywin Lannister. "I see you are handling yourself and the situation very well." "It feels like the time Bran fell from the tower all over again. Just that this time I can not say anything that would bring relief... He won't wake up again.", Noah says, her voice cracking audibly as she speaks. "And in all honesty I feel like breaking down but I was needed.. I can hardly just let his younger brother watch. Nobody should have to see something like this. Nobody should ever harm a child." Tywin looks at her. "Noah." Relief fills her eyes at the sight of prince Oberyn. "I may have a favour to ask of you..", Noah says softly and he simply hold out his arm for her. With a few quick steps she is by his side and after a shiver passes down her spine she cries. She truly was breaking under the weight of watching all those people die, regardless of whether or not she liked them, and not being able to do anything.
Tywin Lannister keeps his eyes on them for a moment longer. He had hardly ever even heard of the viper showing such a thing as compassion or true friendship but right then and there he could see it. Oberyn Martell swiftly picks up the woman and carries her away while Tywin opens the door to his daughter's room where she slept, her face stained with tears, clutching onto a pillow, the covers pulled up to her face. He didn't think too highly of Noah Mars. She was a smart mouthing woman who had no problem with speaking up against him and it angered him. She was extremely skilled and good at her work and already had brought much improvement but she was uncontrollable, especially now that Sansa Stark had disappeared. At first he had thought her to be the driving force behind the murder of his grandson. But it made no sense for her to not only be immediately worried for Sansa Stark if she didn't think her to be in danger all while drawing attention to the girls disappearance, for her to actually stay behind in the Red keep and for her to cry like she did. Not one person he had ever seen could cry like that on command. She was innocent.
Tyrion he was sure too was not involved. And neither would Sansa Stark be. She was far too naive to plan a murder. No. Someone else had planned that murder and he had no doubt that the price to be earned was now taken. After all.. Sansa Stark was gone. And with her the key to the North.
And Noah Mars did linger. For now. He doubted she would be staying much longer seeing as how she had deteriorated with her stay. Where would she go? Winterfell had been handed to the Boltons and as she had correctly said herself they were known as cruel people. She wouldn't go there. Any other northern house would take her, yet he doubted she'd go. Perhaps she would go to Dorne. Or follow that little girl to Essos where her friend was. No. Dorne seemed the most plausible to him. Seeing as how her friendship with the Red Viper had grown steadily over the course of such short time. Perhaps she would go to the wall to her self proclaimed son. But women were hardly tolerated there. Then again.. Noah Mars was not a simple woman. She had been advisor to a king, teacher to two more or less royal families and her tight bound loyalties set her apart from the other women he had seen in his years. She had an air of wisdom and kindness around her that barely any other person had lived long enough to carry.
He had to admit it despite his dislike regarding her personality.
But all of that didn't matter. Not I that moment at least. Tommen was to be crowned soon. And he had to be quick to shape the boy before it would be too late and he'd make just as terrible of a king as his older brother.Noah sits beside Oberyn on her bed. She had torn apart her hairstyle and buried her face in her hands while he simply watches her, careful to assure she wouldn't do anything rash or stupid.
"I can't do this much longer.", Noah whispers and pulls up her legs. "You were so confident when we last spoke.. what happened?" "Death. So much death happened. I've just watched a child die of poisoning. A child that Loved me. Yes. I know he did. I can't even describe to you how much I hate this world. I love a few of the people in it but.. I can't handle this much death of actual human beings. Why can't it be demons? Anything else but actual human beings?" "You need to live through this. You hear me? I can't have you break your promises." Noah looks up at him, brushing away her tears. "Why do you have to be so stupid. Why can't you just always be there?" Oberyn shrugs. "It may just my hunger for blood and revenge." The girl just leans over to him. "I don't think I can stay to watch you die.", she whispers. "Well.. where would you like to go then? Because if you don't stay neither will I." Noah looks at him and laughs softly. "I'll go back North. Back to Jon." She lets herself fall into the soft blankets. It was a breathtaking vision. One Oberyn swore to himself he'd never forget. "Your son.." "My son.. it sounds insane, doesn't it?" He drops down next to her. "Not necessarily. In Dorne Bastards can be kings. It's just the other kingdoms that are so terribly stuck up." Noah smiles. "One day you will have to show me Dorne. Maybe I'll show you my home... I think I'll manage that." "Do you really believe that?" "More than anything I want to believe it...", Noah chuckles, then closes her eyes. "Sometimes when I think about home I can hear Zach's voice sing in my head. And sometimes I dream I'm back there. Watching him furiously scribble down keys onto a music sheet when really he should have been in bed with me hours earlier." "You've never sung a song he has written, have you? Just others from your home." "I don't think I can go through one without crying." "Will you try for me?"
Noah smiles softly.
Sitting up she takes a soft breath before beginningBlinded by a fear of feeling, these are the kings we chose
Lost and looking for the meaning, I've been searching high and low
When we fade into nothing, when we go up in the smoke
We'll beg God for a mercy that He knows we'd never showOn a canvas we stained with blood and painted with our sins
There's a candle melting and it's burning at both ends
We'll take and take till it caves and drowns us in the wax it drips
Like a moth to the flame, you never should've fucking litYou can give sight to the blind
But you can't force them to see
You could take us back in time
But it wouldn't change a thingIf God came down from His kingdom, He came down from His home
And we asked Him if He'd take us back, He would surely tell us no
If God came down from His kingdom, He came down from his throne
And we asked Him if He'd take us back, He would tell us we can't goTo a rat in a maze, the end is where the start begins
But if we made it out, I know that we would do it all again
We live and die in vain like treasure on a sinking ship
All in the name of a God we'd just abandon and forgetIf God came down from His kingdom, He came down from His home
And we asked Him if He'd take us back, He would surely tell us no
If God came down from His kingdom, He came down from his throne
And we asked Him if He'd take us back, He would tell us we can't goWe're dying every day
Tell me, is it all in vain?
Is it worth the suffering?
Is it worth the price we paid?
Is it worth it?Her voice finally breaks off as her tears drown her own voice..
Is it worth it?.
.
.She could practically hear his voice ask her the very question that Arya had sort of asked her before. And while her mind hesitated it was her heart that screamed one word the second she would try to ask herself that very question.
Everything.
FYI:
The song is called 'Mercy' and is by 'Bad Omens' from the album 'Finding God before God finds me'.
