"so, what's going on with you and your mom?" He asks, gripping the stirring wheel. I sigh and he looks at me, "you don't have to talk about it. I don't want it push you or anything-"
"Don't apologize Daniel," I chuckle and he softens, "I just, she's just really overprotective but also a bitch," I admit and he hums.
"Do you want to talk about it?" He asks, looking at me again. I feel my stomach flutter.
"I don't think I should really butcher the mood." I smile and he chuckles.
"I guess your right. But really Brianna, if you need me, I'm always here. And across your dorm." He smiles and I laugh.
"Thanks, Daniel." I smile and he nods.
"So you gotta boyfriend?" He asks, looking back at the road.
WHAT?
"No," I clear my throat, "me and my ex broke up like 2 months ago." I sigh and he gives me a sympathetic look.
"I'm sorry, how long were you guys together?" He asks, turning the corner to the college.
"About 4 years," I admit, his jaw drops.
"Oh my god, I'm so sorry Bri. That must've been devastating. What happened, if you don't mind me asking?" He asks politely.
"He cheated on me with one of the girls I hate most in the world," I mumble and lean back into the chair, folding my arms.
"He's stupid." He comforts.
"I know," I reply, he smiles. He pulls into the parking lot. He stops the car and gets out of the car quickly. I search for my phone and find it beneath my feet. I'm about to exit when Daniel opens the door for me. I smile at him shyly.
"Thank you," I say, gathering out of the car. We walk next to each other in comfortable silence. He opens the door for me and we finally make it up the stairs.
"I had a good, uh, ride home with you." I chuckle and he smiles.
"I had a good time riding home with you too." He teases and we stop in front of our dorms.
"I guess I'll see you in class," I say and he nods.
"See ya in class." He winks making me blush. I grab my keys and open my door. I practically melt to the floor when I get inside.
Oh my fucking God.

"Hey Mom," I say as I walk into the coffee shop with Jake.
"Hey Brianna, how's your day going?" She asks, I can tell she's moving things around.
"Pretty good. I'm about to drink some coffee with Jake and head off to economics." I say and she hums, "what about you?" I ask and hear some ruffling.
"It's been okay, I've just been cleaning up the place." She explains and I nod. Jake orders my latte for me.
"Sounds like a blast." I tease and she chuckles.
"So how's class? Is it easy? Is it hard? Is it worth it?" She jumbles, I smirk.
"Well, my favorite class is obviously creative writing but yeah, it's not easy but it's not hard. It really just depends on the day. Same for every other class." I admit, I hear a knock.
"Oh, that must be Kelsie. I got to go, I'll call you later, dear." My mom says before the line goes dead.
Kelsie's mom's pErFeCt SiStEr. I hate that woman. She's even worse than mom.
Jake sits down and hands me my latte.
"Your mom?" He asks while stirring his cup of coffee.
"Yeah, she's with my evil aunt." I scoff and he smiles before taking a sip of his nasty caffeine.
"Oh yeah? How's that going?" He continues, I shrug.
"She only got there like, less than five minutes ago," I explain and he nods.
"Oh okay. So, what's going on with you and Daniel? I heard you two were together on Saturday." He gushes, raising his eyebrows at me. I click my tongue.
"Oh shut up. All he did was take me home."
"Don't you guys live like right in front of each other?" He babbles, I nod.
"Yeah yeah, whatever shut up." I laugh and he smirks before taking another sip of his coffee.

"Today Mr. Mccawl has assigned us a quick 'exercise' that will be due on Friday." Mr. Clark announces, Daniel smiles at me, "it will be about..." Mr. Clark looks at Daniel, "actually, Mr. Mccawl here will tell you the assignment exactly." He declares, bringing Daniel to the front.
Mccawl nervously fidgets with his hands before clearing his throat.
"Well uh, the assignment given is particularly easy. You will write between five to six paragraphs on silver linings." He clears his throat again than catches my eyes, I smile at him and tilt my head. He smiles and examines everyone again.
"What you will be writing exactly is something bad, terrible, sad and finding the positive, good, beneficial things about it." He finishes, clasping his hands together. Three kids raise their hands. Daniel points to that one boy I saw at the party named, Ben. He's wearing a hoodie, some basketball shorts and a pair of Nikes.
"Can we write about anything?" Ben asks, Daniel nods.
"I guess as long as it's appropriate, yes." He smiles and the other two hands go down. Daniel steps away from the front to grab a bunch of folders and pass them out.
"Well, Mr. Mccawl will be passing out the folders you will write this in and put your name on them. You are responsible for this folder so keep track of it, put your name on it. No excuse if it's 'missing'! It will be an automatic F. As soon as you get this spread, you may begin until the end of class." Mr. Clark announces before going on his computer behind his desk.
Daniel approaches my lane so I adjust my shirt and my blue jeans. I grab my phone and make sure I look alright. I fluff my brown hair for no reason and Daniel's finally in front of me.
"Thank you so much, Brianna. I really really really couldn't thank you enough. This would've been a total ass of an assignment if you hadn't helped." He insists. My cheeks go red, I pull a piece of hair behind my ear.
"It's not a big deal, but you're welcome. Anytime you need me for an assignment I'll be here. Also anytime besides that." I tease and he winks before walking away.
I grab the folder and pull out my pen and write, Silver Lining's, at the top.
What's something bad that can be good? The fact I'm so far away from home? No, other than I'm far away from my mom's backhand. Maybe, the past wars? I'll consider it.
I jot down the thought in my notepad before beginning again.
Maybe, homework? No to overused. Maybe, bullying/bullies? No, what kind of benefit would it be to get bullied? Maybe that it makes you stronger as a person, molding you into who you become later in life. Yessssssirrrrrr.
I write down the thought and notice Daniel trotting back down the stairs. His dirty blonde hair bouncing. I smile tenderly and get butterflies.
NO BRIANNA! No more dating. It's gross. No, bad. He do be kinda cute doe. Shut up. No, you. Ugh. I'm arguing with myself.
If I could smack myself with a curling iron right now, I would.
I can't catch feelings for Daniel, that'd be insane! He's like- he's like my teacher.
Do I mind that?
Do I?
...
No.
