After the encounter with Shawn, I'm left throbbing but he can't tell. I really want to help him out, but I'm honestly really nervous, plus, we're in a house with 3 other people that we now live with. Two being his parents and one being my bestfriend. I push aside my thoughts as we both go down the stairs, his large hand at the small of my back. When I reach the bottom of the stairs he grabs my arm, stopping me.

"Wh-"

"Hold on." He whispers, he spins me around and pushes my hair to the side of my neck where he most definitely left hickey's.

"Damnit Shawn." I sigh and he smiles teasingly.

"You left me with blue balls, I left you with a hickey. Get over it." I blush at his choice of words before he spins me back around. We walk to the dining room where everyone is patiently waiting for us, except for Jake, he just looks irritated.

Oh my god... Did he hear us?

We both walk to the sides of the table. Shawn expects me to sit with him but I sit with Jake instead, leaving Shawn with a pissed off look. I stare at him from across the table with an apologetic look.

"Here Brianna, let me know if you don't like anything." Jennifer smiles, offering me a plate of chicken and shrimp Alfredo. My mouth waters as the aroma of it hits my nose.

"Thank you so much." I stare at my plate and she chuckles.

"Same to you Shawn." She hands Shawn the same plate, with a bit more food though.

"Thanks." He smiles awkwardly and I glance up at him.

"So Brianna, I just wanted to say, I'm so sorry for what happened with your mom. I wish there could've been more done." Mr. Mendes says and I shake my head.

"Everything you all have done is plenty, I honestly couldn't thank you guys enough." I say, looking at both Jennifer as she sits down and Manny.

"There's nothing to thank us for honey, your always more than welcome to stay here." Jenny welcomes warmly and I look at Jake who smiles softly.

"Well, enough chit chat, let's eat. Thank you Jenny, this looks amazing." Manny winks and she blushes to herself. I look at Shawn who has a disgusted look on his face and I reach my foot across to his and softly kick it. He looks at me and I tilt my head. His face softens, he sighs and begins to eat his food.

"So Shawn," Jake says and Shawn's soft face goes back cold, "how come you came with her?" He asks and I almost choke on my chicken.

"Because, I wanted her to feel more comfortable." He says in a low tone, glaring up at Jake.

"Oh, is that so?" Jake looks down at me and I shrink in my seat.

"That's enough Jake." Jennifer threatens and Jake shakes his head before going back to eating. We all eat in awkward silence until done. Jennifer sits up to grab our plates when we've all finished. I hand her my plate thanking her and am about to start helping when Shawn stands up.

"Thank you Jennifer," he smiles softly and she nods, "I'm gonna go lay down." He glares at his father who's staring at him with hopeful eyes. Shawn looks at me before walking back to the room. Manny rubs his temples and I bite my lip.

"He'll come around." I say suddenly, surprised by my own words. Manny looks up and smiles.

"I hope so." He sighs and I tilt my head before grabbing the cups.

"Thank you honey, but you don't need to." Jennifer says as I carry them to the sink.

"Just because I'm a guest doesn't mean I'm not going to do chores." I chuckle and she kisses my head, filling the absence my mother never gave me. My heart fills from her act and I could almost cry.
