A Demon As The Official Second-in-Command

(A/n): {Let's go!!}

{~Akira's POV.~}

I was leading the way through Jingoku Forest as the other Demon Slayers followed me. I could sense a Demon from the start. I went in the direction of it immediately. Ren walked up beside me.

"So, you can sense it, too...?" Ren whispered. I nodded.

"Yes...it's a little bit stronger than the past Demons I've faced, but it's still nothing to worry about." I said. Ren nodded.

"I guessed with how calm you're being..." Ren said. I chuckled before I stopped completely. Ren stopped as well and looked ahead, which was where I was focused. Ren gasped, and growled. He immediately reached for his Katana. I stopped him from unsheathing it.

"Wait." I said. Ren glared at me.

"Why are you stopping me!? Can't you see that's a Demon, specifically the one we were sent to kill!?" Ren said. I sighed.

"I know he's our target, but...you can't just rush into a fight head-on. It's too reckless, and reeks of death. Now, you see how he's seen us, but hasn't done anything yet...? It means he's waiting for us to take the first move on purpose. It's an obvious death trap." I said as I let go of his wrist. Ren sighed.

"Fine. I get your point. So, what do you say we do then?" Ren asked. A few things Ren is severely lacking is patience, observation, and maturity. I'm surprised that so many Demon Slayers are still alive even though they were under his watch...

"We make him believe that we're giving into the trap he's set for us, then catch him off-guard with a surprise attack. I'll be the one that will carry out the second part of the plan, you and everyone else will need to distract him." I said. Ren sighed.

"Alright. Fine. We'll do this your way. All of you heard that, right?" Ren asked as he looked at the Demon Slayers. They nodded.

"Alright. Then why are you all standing there!? That was an order!" Ren said. Everyone started to get ready for a fight. I put my hand on Ren's shoulder.

"I'm counting on you, Ren." I said before I warped near the Demon, but far enough away that he wouldn't see me. Once the Demon Slayers ran towards the Demon and it got ready to harm them, I warped behind it and snapped it's neck. It fell down, and I immediately decapitated it with the Katana (Y/n) gave me. I sheathed it, and looked over at the Demon Slayers who all seemed terrified as I gave them a thumbs up.

I tilted my head to the side when I saw their looks of pure terror. Ren was somehow already beside me as he whispered.

"Yeah. They aren't used to seeing something so brutal, and how you looked as you were doing it...didn't help. You had some sick grin on your face as you killed that guy..." Ren explained.

"Oh..." I said as I chuckled nervously.

"Is it too late to apologize...?" I asked. Ren chuckled.

"After that...? I'd say nothing can get rid of the pure nightmare fuel you just gave them!" Ren said as he laughed. I sighed.

"Really...? Don't they see Demons getting killed every day, though?" I asked. Ren chuckled.

"They do, but not by a maniac." Ren said.

"Was I that bad about it?" I asked. Ren shrugged.

"Not to me. But to them apparently you were." Ren said. I chuckled.

"I guess they'll just have to get used to it then." I said. Ren laughed and nodded.

"Yeah! They've gotta stop being acting like little kids some time, right? Why not start early?" Ren asked. I chuckled.

"I couldn't have said it better myself."

{°•Back At The D.S.A. Base!°•}

{~Akira's POV.~}

I stretched out once we got back. If I'm being honest, I could have laid down on the floor and gone to sleep easily. (Y/n) walked over to me with a smile.

"I talked to Ren about how it went, and he said you did exceptionally well for it being your first time!" (Y/n) said. I chuckled.

"I don't know if I'd go that far... Plus, I can't take all of the credit for it. Everyone else did their part, too. I just came up with a plan, and they executed it." I said. (Y/n) smiled.

"There's no need to be modest, Akira. But, I'll admit that it was a team effort." (Y/n) said before looking at the time on (her/his) phone.

"Crap, it's late! Y'know how you all left at 5 PM...? Well, now it's 11 PM. What were you all doing that took so long!? I mean, it is a two hour walk from here to there, but still! What added on the extra 2 hours!?" (Y/n) asked.  I thought back to what happened earlier...

{°•Flashback!°•}

{~Akira's POV.~}

I sighed. All of the Demon Slayers, even Ren, were joking around like nothing happened. It was nice to hear after the "killing a Demon" thing, but still... They were acting more like children than children themselves... I didn't say anything though. I decided that I wouldn't say anything unless it got too out of hand.

And of course it did...

They all started to dare each other to "go do this," or "go do that". Literally whatever they could come up with on spot. I stopped in front of them, catching their attention and making them stop.

"I think it's about time you all stopped acting like children, don't you all think so too? As your Commander, I'm disappointed." I said as I turned around and gave them all a look of disappointment. They seemed to tense up like they were getting scolded by their parents. Ren, however, was a different story... He walked over to me and chuckled.

"Maybe you just need to join in on the fun. I bet it's been a while since you last cut loose, hasn't it, Commander...?" Ren asked with a smirk. I thought about it for a minute, then shrugged.

"*Sigh* Well... Why not...?" I asked.

It was mostly pranks, and dares. We joked around and laughed every now and then. Once I realized that two hours had passed, I told them that it was time to leave before (Y/n) got too worried.

"I guess the saying, 'Time flies when you're having fun' is true after all..."
