Ch12 Lovesick Sonic

Set one week after: a fight in a Town Center.

Sonic and Tails were sitting in a double hammock relaxing in the lovely weather of Green Hill zone. enjoying the view and making sure everything was OK.
Sonic had a bandage round his stomach and right arm and was temporarily discharged from fighting any Badniks. He had been discovered a few hours after the fight with Metal Sonic he had aquired a broken arm and a fractured ribcage. Tails on the other hand was dangling his legs cheerfully eating a chilli dog and taking small notes in a sheaf of paper.
That's when they both heard screaming.
"Ahhhhhh!" Cried the voice in the desert canyon. "Help me!' Sonic looked dumbfounded. "Sonic!" shouted Tails angrily. "Go help them then!" Sonic zoomed off at what seemed like the speed of light as Tails shook his head.
Scratch and Grounder were searing across the desert sand rising in columns behind them. They were chasing a turquoise hedgehog with a brilliant crop of shiny black hair which fell down to her back. She wore a red dress complete with fancy silk red gloves. Two solid golden and spherical earrings glittered even in the boiling sun. Sonic in all the haste of chasing the despicable robots had left his bandages sailing out in the wind leaving his person.
"Hey Scratch!" he shouted. The chicken who was perched on top of the speeding mole bot turned around. That was a mistake. Sonic sent a rock crashing into his face nearly sending him plummeting into the wide valley below. He held onto Grounder by one hand, the bottom of his torso scraping across the dry edge of the spiralling cliff.
"CLUCK! The Hedgehog is gaining on us!" screamed Scratch in Grounders antenna.
"Let's see how he does face to face with my BOOM BOOM cannon!" Grounder turned around mid-drive and drove backwards sending dirt into the Hedgehogs face. Sonic coughed and spluttered and tried to wipe the dirt out of his eyes as he heard the duo roaring with laughter. When the sand had cleared he was met with a cannon pointing at him. Grounder had transformed his arm into that cannon and smiled as he blew a cannonball straight at Sonic. He narrowly missed it. Grounder was loading in another cannonball....
BOOM! This one didn't hit him but it stuck into the ground and the hedgehog immediately tripped over it...
And unluckily began falling down into the huge sandy chasm below.  "Nooooooooo!" He cried as he helplessly tried to flap his arms like a bird. This was the end.
He closed his eyes as he was about to hit the ground........
WOOSH! a pair of hands grabbed his shoulders lifting him up and away...
"Tails?" said the hedgehog. He looked up and sure enough, he was right. The young fox with all his strength was lifting Sonic's weight using his twin tails to fly. He heaved and heaved and as they reached the edge of the cliff, Tails let go sending Sonic crashing onto solid ground and he himself went crashing as well back onto the pathway.
Sonic pushed himself up (much to the dislike of his arm) and hurried over to the fox. He pulled him up setting him on his feet. "Tails are you alright?"
"Yeah..." he replied, "Just a few bruises are all.."
"You saved my life kid!" said Sonic beaming at him.
"Ah don't mention it" said Tails a little embarrassed.
Then they realised that they still had to rescue the lady. Sonic zoomed off towards the robots who were still chasing the lady.
He made a small tornado  which swept them all off the ground and sent them plummeting into the chasm. The lady screamed and Sonic dived forwards sending her back onto the path. He zoomed over and picked her up in bridal style as they could hear the protestant screams of the falling robots. Sonic carried the lady all the way back to their little relaxation area and set her down on a little wooden chair. "Oh thank you thank you thank you!" said the lady Hedgehog exasperated. "I've heard so much about you, but I never expected to see you in action! You were amazing out there!"
"Aww shucks..." murmured Sonic blushing a little.
"My name's Breezie said the lady holding out her hand.
"I'm Sonic the giddy hedgehog replied and shook her hand. He felt slightly warm to the touch of her silk gloves.
Tails on the other hand, was spectating and had a disgusted look on his face. "Can I be the first one to say ew?" he said to himself. He pretended to retch after he saw Breezie stroking Sonic's head and even more disgusted when he saw Sonic was enjoying it .
"Well we really must be going" said Tails reaching for Sonic's wrist..
But Breezie had just spotted a chilli dog they had just put on their grill for lunch.
"My My, said Breezie are those chilli dogs?"
She stumbled a little as though drunk on her high heels and tottered over to the sizzling sausages.
"My favourite!" said Sonic and Breezie at the same time.
Sonic and Breezie beamed at each other but then Breezie went into a tyrannical wail.
"What's wrong Breezie?" said Sonic coming to her aid completely ignoring Tails' mutters of protest.
"I-its just that there is a certain chilli dog I absolutely love in the Arctic Zone sold by a polar bear.
It's about 6000 miles from here and you're the fastest guy I know!"
"Miles?" thought Sonic. "Meh I'll do it for Breezie"
"Over and gone! he shouted and before Tails could grab him he zoomed into the distance leaving Breezie looking hopeful.
"Why on Earth would you send him so far for a chilli dog?" said Tails furiously.
"Oh it's not just any old chilli dog! said Breezie floatily. "It's THE chilli dog!"
"Oh this is ridiculous" said Tails now becoming red with anger." I can't believe you!"
"Oh you will soon enough" said Breezie wickedly.
