We had just started to get comfortable when we heard people fighting outside. Well, wolves fighting. Liam tensed and shifted me so I was further away from the door.

"Stay here until me or one of my warriors comes and gets you, okay babe?" He said, stalking toward the door.

"Liam, please stay safe," I said to his back.

He turned around and kissed my cheek. "It'll only take a minute, I promise, now stay here."

"As you wish," I said, laughing slightly.

He smiled before walking out the door to join the squabble outside. I could hear the loud whimpers and growling and or got louder so I guessed Liam was there.
I didn't dare go to the window, I feared that I would see some things that I would rather keep my mind away from. So instead, I hid in the closet and barricaded the door with a cupboard and a few chairs. I also broke one of the chair legs so I would have some sort of weapon if a rogue slipped into the house.

I couldn't hear anything from in here so I huddled behind a built-in cupboard and higher my knees to my chest.
After around half an hour the closet became hot and stuffy and I was starting to worry about my mate.
I could still feel the mate pull, so he was still alive, but nothing is to say that he couldn't be very injured.

Suddenly, the was a loud rap on the door. I flinched and picked up my broken piece of a chair leg.

"Babe, it's me," Liam said through the barricade, "we need to leave now. More warriors are on their way but we can't fight all of them, we need to go."

"Coming!" I moved the chairs and cupboard and Liam instantly snatched my wrist.

We ran downstairs and Liam slowly led me towards the back door.

"Oh, look at the Alpha trying to protect his mate." A low voice chuckled behind us.

Liam whirled around and held me behind him, still not letting go of my wrist.
Liam growled dangerously and his grip on me tightened. I examined the man.
His hair was a light brown and his eyes were the same sapphire colour as mine. He was muscular but very pale. As if he had been playing hide and seek with the sun his whole life. I wondered who this man was, and what he did to make Liam so frightened.

Liam's P.O.V
I could feel myself slipping, my wold pressing against my skin. It was too tempting to shift and rip this guy's head off.
I wouldn't let my mate be taken from me, not again. I slowly backed away from the man, making him chuckle.

"Oh, come now." He said, a smile creeping over his lips, "I just came to see who has stolen my daughter's heart."

I froze, and I heard Ruby gasp from behind me. Daughter? No, this couldn't be her father. The man who had been having affairs with rogue females and left before she was born to become the alpha of rogues.
But now that I think about it, he did have the same complexion and eyes as my mate.

"No."
