I growled low and dangerous as he stepped closer, his ever-present smirk growing wider.

"A little in edge, are we?" He asked, cocking his head to the side, "I guess it's understandable, what, with your mate gone."

That caught me off guard. How did he know about that? No one conversed with the rogues so how would they know that the pack had no Alpha Male?
I decided to worry about a possible mole in the pack later and focused on him. I bared my teeth and snarled.

"Now, now, don't do that." He said, holding out a hand, "we wouldn't want to have to call my friends, now would we?" He glanced unto the forest and, sure enough, I saw the glowing eyes of other wolves.

"So why don't you change back and we can have a proper conversation, hm?" He asked.

I shook my head. How stupid did he think I was? He wanted me to shift back, so he and his wolves could attack me.

"C'mon, love." He said soothingly, "I promise that they won't attack, not unless I say so."

I stepped back and he continued to try and convince me to shift back. While he was doing that I made a mental link with the pack.

My father is here with his rogues, I need help

On our way, Luna one of the warrior generals replied, please try to hold on while we get there.

"So come now." My father held out his hand, "come home with me, back to my pack and we'll rule together. You won't need your mate to help run the pack or protect you, imagine that. The wolves will listen to you and obey your every command without question." He grinned, "shift back, daughter and we'll live in peace."

I racked my brain for something, anything, just so I wouldn't have to shift but I saw no other way. Reluctantly, I padded behind a large tree and shifted, bones crunched and moved back into their proper place and I glanced down at my naked body.

"Here." My father's hand reached around the trunk with a jacket in his hand, blindingly thrusting it out to me.

I took it hesitantly and zipped it up to the top. I stepped slowly in front of my father and more wolves came into the fading daylight. I tensed, peering at my father but keeping the other wolves in my line of sight.

"So, dear daughter." He started, leaning casually against a tree, "if I were to tell you that I knew where your mate was and could hand him over to you, would you come with me?"

I frowned, "that depends."

"Let's see." He murmured, "yes, you'll have to come alone, no, you can't be armed, you cannot be in wolf form, you cannot contact the pack in any way and yes, I will immediately kill the Alpha the second he lays his dirty hands in you. Did that answer all of your questions?" He grinned.

I scowled, "why are you all of a sudden wanting me to be with you now? Why did you leave in the first place and why the fuck would I go with you, alone, to god-knows-where?" I ranted, "take your time answering." I said, trying to buy more time.

Are you almost here? I linked with the General.

Just hold on a little more, please Luna. He answered.

Fuck it, I thought. With a growl, I lunged forwards, shifted while in the air, and landing in my father. Before he could shift or his rogues could move, I clamped my jaws around his neck and sprinted away.
His legs dangled and smacked against rocks, trees and fallen branches as he slipped into unconsciousness. I heard his wolves in pursuit and a few howls, from both my pack and his. I was getting closer to the Pack House, but they were gaining on me quickly. Suddenly, warriors burst from the bushes and behind the trees and tackled the rogues to the ground. In a matter of seconds, all of the rogues were subdued and I dropped my father into the grass.

Luna! James mind linked at he ran over with a few other warriors, are you okay? Did they hurt you?

No, but they have Liam, I know it. I answered and his ears perked up, I mind linked with all of the warriors, they have Liam at their headquarters, most likely heavily guarded and when word gets to them that we have their Alpha one of two things is going to happen, they'll propose a trade, my father for Liam, or they'll kill Liam and we'll kill my father. Let's hope its option one, and if no word comes, we'll initiate the trade. I said and I saw a bunch of nodding heads and noises of agreement.

I looked at James, we'd better get planning.
I trotted back into the Pack House, using the plastic flap, and up the staircase. I now understood why it was so wide. I shifted outside of Liam's closed door and ran inside, locking the door behind me, then slipping into one of his shirts.
I knew that I wasn't going to sleep tonight. Excitement, but also fear and concern raced through my veins, making it almost impossible to sit still. I turned on the T.V and listened to some crummy movie while my thoughts focused on my mate.

I will find him, I told myself, I have to.

"Luna, are you sure you're okay?" The nurse asked for the millionth time.

"Yes." I sighed.

"Well, your heart is beating rather quickly and I can't think of my other reason other than trauma, which is completely logical." She answered, "Considering what happened when you were twelve, then Alpha Liam coming back, then you mother, then your father and now Alpha Liam is most likely dead-"

"Enough!" I shouted, pinning her to the wall by her neck, "if you ever so much as mutter that again I'll kill you myself." I growled and she went pale.

"Y-yes, Luna." She stuttered and fled the room.

I sighed and dragged a hand over my face. My father was now in the dungeon in the basement waiting for me to interrogate him. I didn't know if I could, I couldn't stand to be in front of my father knowing that he'd taken my mate from me.
But we were close, we would meet with my fathers beta tomorrow and initiate the exchange.

"Luna," James said from the door, I hadn't even realized that he'd come in, "Your fathers ready for you."

I sighed, nodding and leaving the room.
I followed James down into the dungeons, down a stone hall and into my father's cell. He was seated at the metal table, hands underneath it. He grinned at me.

"Hello, daughter." He crooned.

"Where's Liam?" I growled, "how do we get into the base?"

He shrugged, "I'm sorry, love. I can't tell you that."

It was my turn to grin, "oh you can, and you will."

Suddenly, he stood from the chair and James move forwards, closer to me. My father grinned at me one more time before slashing a hand across his throat. I yelled, lunging for him as he dropped the pocket knife and dropped to the floor.

His blood sprayed on my face and chest as I collapsed next to him. James pulled me away and warriors moved in.

I started at the body, my hands shaking. I could feel the sticky blood on me, it was like a second skin. I breathed in deep, letting beta lead me out into his bedroom. I ignored the strange and bewildered look of other common wolves, the gasps of horror and surprise.
I let James lead me into the bathroom, into the shower. After I was done he led me to his bed and pressed me into the mattress.
I didn't sleep, didn't dare close my eyes as the night wore on... As the earth continued to exist.
