Chapter 32: The Last Chapter

Liam P.O.V
A knock at the door woke me from my light sleep.
I jerked awake and rubbed at my eyes, trying not to wake my sleeping mate.
Another knock had me climbing out of bed and stumbling to the door. I opened it to see Claire standing in the doorway. She seemed to be fully awake, he hair pulled back into a braid and light makeup on her eyes and lips.

"Morning, Lee." She said and pushed her way into my room.

"Hi," I mumbled, my voice still raspy from sleep.

She walked to the foot of the bed and reached to shake Ruby awake.

"Don't you dare," I growled at her and swatted her hand away.

She huffed, "I need to talk to her."

"I don't care," I said, taking her arm and leading her away from the bed and to the couch, "I haven't seen her sleep this soundly since before her father died. I want to let her sleep."

Her eyes softened and she smiled at me, then glanced at Ruby.

"Okay, fine." She sighed, "but as soon as she wakes up I want you to tell her that I need her. Got it?"

I huffed, "Yes mum." I rolled my eyes.

She made a face at me as she left, closing the door quietly behind her.
I peered over at Ruby and a slight smile tugged on my lips.

"How long have you been awake?" I asked her.

She sat up, rubbing her eyes, and gave me a sheepish smile. "Why did Claire want me?"

I chuckled, shaking my head and climbing back onto the bed and pulling her against me, "I'm not sure, she wouldn't say."

"Hm." She relaxed into me.

I buried my face in her neck and tightened my arms around her small body.

"I should go see what she wants," she murmured sleepily.

I hummed in agreement but didn't remove my arms. She didn't try to get up either, so we both just laid there, enjoying each others company.
Ruby...

My little thing...

She always and always will be.
