"Don't leave your posts!" I heard someone shout to the wolves guarding my cell.
They barked a 'yes sir', and then it was silent again. Silence... It was driving me insane, a migraine building inside my head. Both from not getting any sleep and the distance between me and my mate.
God, I hoped she was okay. My pack would take care of her, she was their Luna after all.
"Hey what are you-" a guard was cut off by a scream.
Then he started screaming. I jerked in my shackles, forcing my feet under me and to pull my head up. My shaggy oily hair fell in my eyes. The door was kicked back do hard it flew off its hinges and crashed against the stone wall.
I wonder at the sound.
Then light flooded my small cell. I squinted as people rushed in. Or more specifically, my warriors and...
"Ruby." My voice rasped as she rushed to my side.
Her hands were int hair, on my face, against my chest. I savoured my mate's warmth, drinking in her scent.
"Get him out of these chains." She growled to one of the warriors and he instantly obeyed.
As soon as they clattered to the floor my knees decided to buckle. Ruby slung in of my arms over her shoulder, kissing the corner of my mouth while another warrior slung my other arm around him.
My mate's arm circled my waist and pulled me closer to her.
They rushed me out if the cell and into the bright early morning light. It was the start of spring now... God, I had stayed there for two weeks.
"Can you shift?" Ruby asked, squeezing my hand in hers.
I nodded, "yeah, I'll be fine."
She nodded and both her and the warrior backed away, giving me room to shift.
I dug inside of me and tugged at my will, that was all the encouragement it needed before it broke through my skin.
I clawed at the dirt, my ears picking up new sounds that my advanced human ears could never detect.
I let out an ear-piercing howl and other wolves echoed it, including my mate who had shifted. Her white wolf now stood beside me, her shoulder brushing mine.
I missed you, so goddam much, I mind linked with her.
I love you, she nuzzled my shoulder.
I growled back and we darted into the forest, the pack not far behind. But there was more than one pack, probably around three or four, including mine.
Welcome back, Alpha, James voice sounded in my head as we darted for our border. We passed fighting wolves on our way, but there were more of us than there were of them so we didn't bother stopping.
With every bounding step towards my territory, my legs screamed in pain, and soon my paws joined. But what little pride I had left forced me to move faster, run harder.
I didn't even know we were there until I saw Ruby slowing down next to me and felt my family inside the Pack House.
Ruby shifted next to me, her clothes shredded but clinging to her body.
"Welcome home, Alpha." She smiled.
Ruby P.O.V
Almost as soon as we entered the Pack House we were swarmed by the warriors, mothers and children that were left behind.
"Welcome back Alpha and Luna."
"We missed you!"
"I'm so happy you're both safe."
"Congratulations!"
We walked through the house, the crowd deciding to let him rest. I led him up to his bedroom and closed the door behind me.
As soon as it clicked shut his arms slipped around my waist and he collapsed onto the bed. I landed in his chest as our bodies bounced against the mattress.
"I'm missed you." He murmured into my hair, breathing deep.
"How are you feeling?" I asked, worried.
He looked pale and skinny as an albino gecko, and those things were hella skinny.
His blond hair was shaggy and hanging in his fatigued eyes. He had a purple-green bruise on his left cheek and his bottom lip was split in the corner.
I could tell he was holding back a wince as I turned to face him. He peered down at me, lips curling up into a small smile.
I couldn't help but wonder how he could smile when he had just been through hell and back.
"What are you staring at?" He asked a small smirk on his lips.
I shook my head, resting it on his chest and listening to his heartbeat steadily in his chest.
I traced small patterns on his chest, breathing in his delicious scent.
"I love you." I murmured, "so, so much."
I listened to his heartbeat pick up in his chest as I said those words.
"I love you too." He smiled back in that adorable accent of his.
We didn't do much else for the rest of the day. Neither of us had had much sleep over the past two weeks so we'd both gladly fell asleep in each other's arms.

"How are you feeling this morning Alpha?" One of the chefs asked.
She was the same one who had brought them dinner when they'd woken last night.
"Much better, thank-you." He replied, stuffing another piece of bacon in his mouth.
She smiled at him, then eyed me with mild suspicion. I hadn't touched my food at all this morning, my stomach wouldn't stop it's churning long enough. The chef left, leaving me and Liam alone for the first time since we had got home.
"Ruby." Liam's voice whispered in my ear.
I turned towards him and right into his lips. I made a noise of surprise but didn't pull away, instead, I moved closer.
Tangling my fingers in his hair, moving my lips against his soft one's.
He pulled back all too soon, hands on my waist, lips parted in a silent question.
"I- I don't know..." I whispered, pulling back.
"Ruby, we have to do it sometime, otherwise you'll go in heat and you know how painful that can be." He replied, pulled me closer.
"I know," I admitted.
I wanted to, but I just couldn't bring myself to let someone see me like that. He had only seen my body once and that was in the shower.
"Just think about it, okay?" He cupped my cheek, making me look at him.
I nodded, "okay."
He smiled and leaned his forehead against mine. I breathed in his scent, loving the way it lingered.
I leaned into his precious touch, making sure to memorise how his hands felt against my face, the way he was so gentle with me... I couldn't help but smile.
"What?" He murmured, and my eyes fluttered open.
"Nothing," I said and moved so I was sitting on his thigh, arms around his neck and face buried in his shoulder.
I breathed... I breathed...
I just breathed...
