Ruby
My neck blazed with pain for a few seconds before pleasure took its place. I could feel his mark forming on my neck. I moaned in pleasure and he growled in satisfaction. He retracted his teeth and licked the wound, cleaning away the blood that had spilled over my neck and his couch. The front door clicked, signalling that the lock had been turned. His parents were home. Liam growled once more before he reluctantly climbed off me and helped me to sit up. The door swung open and his mother walked in along with Liam's little sister, Clair. They both stopped short when they saw me, then Mary smiled.

"Ruby, it's lovely to see you again," Mary said, putting her handbag on the table.

"It's nice to see you too." I got up and hugged her. "Hey, Clair."

We all exchanged hugs, then the door opened again and Cole and Harry walked in. I hugged Harry and was about to hug Cole when Liam pulled me back onto his lap.

"Jeez, little bro, what do you think I'm gonna do?" Cole asked, irritated. "I mean, if it bothers you that much then I guess I would've kissed her on the cheek." He snickered.

"And I would've given you a black eye," I smirked at him.

"Nice to know that you haven't changed, Gem." He patted my head.

I stuck my tongue out at him then relaxed into Liam.

Liam
He was not allowed to touch what was mine, that included my mate. She is mine. Only mine. She relaxed into me and I pulled her onto my lap. Clair smiled knowingly at us and then my mother gasped.
"Who marked you!?" She asked Ruby, seeing the crescent moon and stars on her neck.

"This possessive idiot." She said, pointing at me.

"Oh, you know you love it." I laughed.

"Do I?" She teased.

"Yes, you do."

She rolled her eyes. My parents watched us with amusement, understanding what I was feeling.

"Ruby, where's your mother?" Harry asked her.

She tensed on my lap, fidgeting with the hem of her shirt.
"She, um... She left after you guys did." My mate explained, sadness coating her voice. "I don't know where she went."

"Oh, sweetie." My mother sat down next to us. "I'm so sorry, why didn't you call? We would've come back."

"She left on the same day you went to the airport, and to get to America there's a time jump, so it would be three days for me but fifteen hours to you." She explained, leaving me stunned.
She was so smart. Pride beamed inside me. She was so smart and strong, I don't know how I lived for five years without her. I pulled her closer to me and kissed the mark on her neck.

"Liam, why don't you take her up to your room and you two can get some sleep." Harry's deep voice said.

I nodded and helped her to her feet.

"Sleep, little bro. Not mating, sleep." Cole called from the kitchen.

I flipped him off as I led Ruby up the stairs and into my room. She smiled and dropped onto my bed. I watched as she slid under the sheets and buried her face in my pillows, inhaling deeply. The mate pull would be stronger now that I had marked her. Good. But, Coles comment from before replayed in my mind and I wondered, did I want that to happen? Did I want to mate her now? I hesitated a moment before asking.
"Hey, babe?"

"Hmm?"

"I was just... Uh, just wondering if you wanted to, uh, you know... Complete the mating process?" I stammered.

Her head shot up and her eyes flew open. She started at me for a while as if gauging if I was serious or not. I was deadly serious.

"Like, tonight? Now?" She asked, clearly a bit tentative.

"We don't have to if you don't want to," I said quickly. "I just wanted to know."

"Umm, Could we wait until your family's not downstairs?"

"Oh, right. Of course." I went into my walk-in closet and took off my pants and shirt, throwing them in the washing basket. I sauntered out into my room in my boxers and then put my phone on charge in my desk. I turned to see Ruby's eyes checking me out, then she turned bright red and buried her face in the covers again.
"Sorry." Her voice was muffled by the quilt.

I chuckled and slid under the covers next to her. I pulled her close and she turned her back to me. I spooned her and listened as her breathing became steady and she fell into a deep sleep. I soon followed her into the world of dreams and nightmares.

Ruby
I woke to the sound of my phones ring tone. I groaned as I slid from Liam's grasp and answered the phone.
"What?" I croaked.

"Hey, sweetie." A soft, familiar voice said on the other line.

My entire body froze and my mind went blank for a minute. My breathing accelerated, my heart pumping a million miles an hour.

"Mum?"
