I still hated how those boys treated my mate. I wanted to track them down, to tell them exactly who she belonged to and who I was.
Unfortunately, my mate didn't see it like that."They were just playing around." She'd claimed, "don't be so possessive."
My hand shifted to rest on her thigh as I drove us both to the packhouse. We'd decided that if we were going move in together then we'd move into the packhouse. I had told her that I'd wanted to move in with her, and she'd seemed hesitant. So, me being the idiot that I am, I told her that we could live at the packhouse, meaning we would never get any time alone...
"When are we going to start packing?" Ruby asked, placing her hand over mine as the car moved onto the trail that led to the house.
"I'm not sure, any time you like, I guess," I responded.
She nodded, biting her bottom lip. I tried to focus all of my attention on the riad, and not on my mate, but it was difficult.
I stole a few glances at her, then realized they weren't glances, I was outright staring."Focus on the road otherwise you'll run into a tree and kill us both," she scolded.
I nodded, watching the road again as the giant house came into view.
I couldn't help but smirk as my mate's eyes filled with awe as they always did when she saw the house."Are we going to stay in your rooms?" She questioned as she got out of the car and came around to join me.
I linked our hands together as we walked to the house.People nodded their heads in respect as we passed them, going up a flight of stairs.
Me rooms were the biggest in the house since I'm the alpha."Yeah, then I can keep a close eye on you," I said, only half-joking.
She rolled her eyes at me as I pulled her into my room.
I still hadn't gotten over those two boys. The nerve they had, asking my mate to do something like that. What if people treated her like that when I was gone? What if she was forced to do something by some jackass who was trying to get a laugh?
I wasn't with her for years, so it's a possibility.
I felt my blood start to boil, so I pulled Ruby into me and inhaled deeply."Lee? What's wrong?" She asked, in a soft voice.
"I love you," I whispered, needing her to know.
"I love you too, now what's wrong?" She demanded again.
I chuckled, kissing the top of her head.
"I was just thinking about what you would've done when I wasn't here," I explained, "and I don't like the things my mind came up with.""Ah." She nodded, then kissed my jaw, "well, I can tell you about it, if you want? It might put you at ease."
I nodded, "Yeah, I'd like that darlin'."
She led me to the bed and we both laid down, backs resting against the headboard.
I listened as she talked about how she had managed to keep the house in those first years. How she kept other people away so they didn't know and she didn't have to go into foster care.I'd realized just how much she had changed in the past year's, and it broke my heart that I wasn't there for her.
"But hey, at least I got you now." She smiled and moved closer, wrapping her arms around my middle.
I rested my chin on the top of her head and sighed. I kissed her hair and breathed in her scent.
I know it's short and I haven't been updating but I've been busy, k?
