The hospital seat was too small for me and it was very uncomfortable but I would deal with it for Carol. She was like a second mother to me, and now she would be a real mother with her own baby girl. She decided to call her Ruby Elisabeth Daily. It was a beautiful name and she would be a beautiful baby. A nurse with pixie style blond hair and brown eyes called out our families name Stuart, and we all rushed up to her. Carol had been living with me, my mother, stepfather, sister and older brother since she was five months pregnant.
"She gave birth to a baby girl ten minutes ago." She read off a clipboard. "She is allowed visitors, just no more than ten at a time, "
Lucky there were only five of us there. We followed her into Carols room and then she left. Carol was glistening with sweat and she was holding a bundle of orange blankets. The ones we had gotten her for this exact reason. We moved closer, my mother and father at her bedside, Clair sitting on the chair near the window and me and my brother on the other side of the bed. The baby's head was resting on her mother's chest, small body wrapped up in the blanket, being softly stroked by Carol's hand. Everyone started chatting excitedly but I couldn't seem to take my eyes off of the beautiful baby girl. Her eyes fluttered open and she stared at me, I fell deep into her sapphire blue eyes and my heart melted. I already loved her. I wanted to hold her delicate body in my arms and feel her heartbeat in time with mine. I wanted her to be mine. Not my daughter or sister, but mine. I felt suddenly possessive of her, I wanted to protect her from this world. This adorable little baby didn't deserve to face the horrors of this universe, but I'm glad she was here. Because without her I wouldn't feel this warmness in my chest, I wouldn't feel like this towards anyone else except her. And I realized with a sudden jolt what this meant...
She was my mate.
Twelve years later...
Ruby P.O.VI hopped into the familiar silver BMW. Liam grinned at me from the driver's seat, but it wasn't his usual happy grin. He seemed... Off.
"Hey, how was school?" His voice wavered a little at the end as he pulled onto Semaphore road.I decided that it was probably a boy thing and shrugged it off. "It's school, it can't really be good, can it?"
He chuckled, but I wasn't joking. No one really liked school, but at least they had friends and for good grades. I didn't have any friends because people thought it was weird that me and the Alpha were best friends. I was twelve and he was seventeen but it wasn't like we were dating, then it would be weird. We talked about school, homework, and random things on the way home. By 'home' I mean Liam's house, and it was like a second home to me. I went there a lot, I slept there, me and my mum had dinner there and they would have dinner and our place too. But when I slept there I slept in Liam's room, and before you ask, we do share the same bed. It was harmless, he wouldn't do anything to me, he's not like that.
"Do you have any homework?" He asked as he unlocked the door and we went inside.
"Yup, " I answered. "Can you help me, pleeeeaaaaassseee?" I begged.
"Ok, fine, " he sighed. "Show me what you have to do, "
We worked in his bedroom for the rest of the afternoon until Mary, his mother, called us down for dinner. When we got down there, the mood seemed weird. Kinda sad and miserable. I helped set the table and we all started to eat. My mother kissed my head and smiled when I sat next to her, Liam on my other side. He was being really clingy for some reason, he had been doing it all afternoon.
"You don't seem too upset, " Cole, Liam's older brother, remarked.
"Why would I be?" I asked, hoping to get some information as to why everyone seemed so gloomy.
Everyone peered at Liam, who shrugged helplessly and continued to pick at the pork chop.
"What's going on?" I asked since clearly, no one was going to tell me.
Mary hesitated before saying. "It's nothing, love."
After dinner, Liam said that he would be staying over at my place tonight. I beamed at him happily as we made our way across the street and over to my house.
We had some chocolate ice cream and after we went straight to bed. I changed into one of Liam's shirts that went down to my knees. I settled on top of his chest and just as I was about to drift off to sleep I heard him mutter:
"I love you Darlin', "I smiled. "I love you too, "
I woke up and it was freezing cold. The chilly morning air didn't usually bother me because I always had Liam's body heat but when I opened my eyes a little, I saw that he was gone. I figured that he must have gone downstairs to get breakfast so I took my time getting out of bed and trudging into the bathroom to wash my face with some warm water.
I went downstairs, expecting to see Liam at the bench, in the lounge room or in the kitchen, but the house was silent. Not even my mum was here. I saw a note on the table and walked over to it, it read:Thanks for reading this and just so you know it's not edited so there might be some mistakes. Bye!!
