Still ruby...
"Drop it now!" I said again, pressing the knife harder onto his skin.
Theo dropped his gun and put his hands up. I glanced at the third guy, he was frozen but I could see him slowly shuffling towards his leader, Theo. Well, I'm guessing he was the leader since he was ordering everyone around.
"Now, back off," I said and started to walk towards the entrance of the street.
"Okay, okay." The third one said. "Calm down, we're moving."
They went to the sides of the street as I walked past them, my knife still drawing blood. I glanced to my right at Theo, I wasn't too worried about the other one. He was small and skinny, I could take him out easily and I doubted he would even attack me.
I was almost home free when I felt something cold touch the back of my neck.
I peered over my shoulder and cursed myself, I should be known better than to underestimate him. His eyes were hard as he turned the safety on the gun off.
"Nice try little girl, now get the hell off him." He growled.
I smiled. "Ya see, if you shoot me then I would still have enough time to slit his throat but if I kill him then you'll shoot me."
"I guess we're at a stalemate." He said, and I saw his finger tightening on the trigger.
I pressed the knife deeper and heard him hiss in pain. Theo had picked up his gun and now stood between me and the main road. I growled and felt my wolf coming closer to the surface, so close that I felt my eyes glowing.
Luckily, none of the humans seemed to notice.
"Let him go, now, I won't tell you again," Theo warned.
"Sorry, I can't die, I have people I need to go home to," I said, my gaze flickering behind me, then to Theo.
"Yeah? Well, guess what lil' kitty? We do too so how bout you let him go and we'll let you go?" Theo said, his gaze flickering behind my shoulder.
I felt the gun being taken off my neck and spared another glance behind me. He had backed up and I saw the gun tucked in the waistband of his jeans.
I looked back at Theo as he turned on the safety and put his gun into a holster hidden by his black leather jacket.
I started to walk and still dragged the boy with me. I had to make him bend down do I could reach his neck, he was around 5'9" and I was 5'5". I was teeny tiny.
I suddenly felt someone yank me back and the guy I was holding ripped the knife from my grasp and broke free.
The person behind me pressed a damp cloth over my mouth and nose. I resisted the urge to breathe and panic but soon I had to breathe, letting the toxin in the cloth flood in my mouth.
My vision became fuzzy and I started to blackout when the cloth was finally removed.
My legs failed to hold me and the guy behind me caught me.
"I hate my life," I muttered to myself.
I tried to connect to Liam but I was too weak.
Darkness washed over me like a black ocean of doom and dragged me down, down, down, until I couldn't see anything but darkness.
Liam P.O.V
One day. It's been an entire day and no one had found my mate. I was still curled up in her bed, not able to move or function properly.
"Where are you, Ruby?" I muttered into her pillows.
I had tried to connect to her mind but there was nothing there. She wasn't there. But she wasn't dead, if she was dead then I would've felt it.
"I promise I'll stay." I continued, "I'll talk to you, take you out to the park, and the forest or anywhere you want, just come back to me..."
For the first time since I had left for America, I let a tear slip down my cheek. Then another, and another. How could she leave me like this? Why would she leave? She loved me, she cared for me so how..?
I abruptly thought of something...
This is how she would've felt when I left. My poor baby, she must be felt so alone, how could I do that to her? What kind of mate am I? A crappy one.
