Lyrics and Their Meaning:
They would yell, they would scream, they were fighting it out
Her parents were not working out well
She would hope, she would pray, she was waiting it out
And she knew what was coming however, she prayed that it didn't happen
Holding on to a dream
Holding onto that image of a perfect family
While she watches these walls fall down
While she watches it all crumble down
Sharp words like knives, they were cutting her down
Sharp words were being said about her (OR she was harming herself because of what her parents were saying about her)
Shattered glass like the past, it's a memory now
Shattered glass was her happy memories with her family
Hey mom, hey dad
Self explanatory
When did this end?
How did you end up here?
Where did you lose your happiness?
What happened to that love that you shared for one another?
I'm here alone inside of this broken home
I'm here caught up in between your fights
Who's right, who's wrong who really cares?
Who cares about all of these past events?
The fault, the blame, the pain's still there
It doesn't matter who you blame, you're still hurting her
Wrote it down on the walls, she was screaming it out
She wrote it out, sharing it with her parents and screaming at them
Made it clear, she's still here, are you listening now?
They never understood that this affected her too so she made it clear that she wanted to be heard.
Just a ghost in the halls
Her former self was a ghost now
Feeling empty, they're vacant now
Making her feel empty because her parents broke up and now her house is empty
All the battles, all the wars, all the times that you've fought
She's been through so much because of you
She's a scar, she's the bruises, she's the pain that you brought
She's your scares, pain and the bruises that you have brought upon your family
There was life, there was love
There was something there, maybe love?
Like a light and it's fading out
But it was like a lightbulb, eventually it will burn out
You've gotta let it go, you're losing all your hope
Let go of this stupid, petty fight. You're putting pressure on me
Nothing left to hold, locked out in the cold
I've got no support system and now I'm locked out, stuck in a rainy day
You painted memories then washed out all the scenes
We made memories together and now the rain has flooded them out
I'm stuck in between a nightmare and lost dreams
And I'm stuck in between, a nightmare and lost hope for you
Yay or Nay: A sad YAY...
What It Reminds Me Of: This is the struggle that goes on behind the scenes of a divorce. I have been in this place, however my parents never really got divorced, they saw the pained look on my sister and I's faces and got back together. It is hard on people, especially young girls due to so much social pressure they're put under. Sometimes you have to be selfish and say 'hey I'm here too!'
