I will now explain each song briefly

YOUNGBLOOD

When you're looking at those strangers hope to God you see my face

Youngblood is a power house anthem that has made its substantial mark on Australian history. Winning the Aria award for Song Of The Year in 2018 as well as reaching over 1 BILLION streams in February 2020. This masterpiece of a song was written by Luke, Calum, Ashton, Ali Tamposi, Andrew Watt and Louis Bell. With an extremely catchy drum line and a hooking chorus (as well as bridge) you will be humming for days after hearing this song (I am currently regretting listening to this song now, it's going to be stuck in my head again!).

WANT YOU BACK

I remember the roses on your shirt when you told me this would never work

The first taste of this new era of 5SOS was brought to you by Want You Back. This song is about wanting someone back! Oh and them being a fake betch too! (If you've seen this video then I love you!) With the hooking first line asking if you're crying or is it just the rain, this song is a lyrical and instrumental masterpiece. Who wrote this song that just gets everyone feeling like they're wanting their ex back? Luke, Calum, Ashton, Asia Whiteacre, Jacob Kasher, Steve Mac and FRND, that's the answer. With a beautifully LED, performance based music video to accompany this song, some might wonder, will we ever see punk rock 5SOS again? (trust me, you will!)

LIE TO ME

Now I wish we'd never met, 'cause you're too hard to forget

Sometimes I wish this with 5SOS, I wonder what my life would be like without them. Anyway, Lie To Me comes in two different versions (the original and a duet with Julia Michaels). Written by Ashton, Calum, Luke Ali Tamposi and Andrew Watt, this song was (also) accompanied by a music video, and an explosive one too. With the song being written about a toxic relationship that always leaves you asking if they can just love you again, the music video accentuates this perfectly. Set in an abandoned race car track, Luke is stuck in an old car wreck, two other cars circling him. Meanwhile, Ashton, Calum and Michael all sit in different areas watching the traumatic scene going on down below. The two circling cars eventually collide with Luke's car, causing it to eventually burst into flames with Luke 'in it'. Symbolism is key in this video, the car represents the trapped relationship that one could be in, and the wreck symbolises the fact that it can ruin your life if you're in a relationship with a terrible person for too long. And the boys watching on represents how family and friends can tell them to stop, however they're forced to watch him go through all of this pain. It's a really deep concept and I could go on for days however I am going to leave this here, risking another extremely long chapter.
