Lyrics and their meaning:

Some days, you're the only thing I know
Only thing that's burning when the nights grow cold
Can't look away, can't look away
Beg you to stay, beg you to stay, yeah
Sometimes, you're a stranger in my bed
Don't know if you love me or you want me dead
Push me away, push me away
Then beg me to stay, beg me to stay, yeah

The protagonist is explaining how their partner keeps on contradicting themselves. They think they know them, but sometimes their actions are so different that they wonder if they know the true person behind the facade. Don't know if you love me or you want me dead relates to how their actions change within a matter of moments.

Call me in the morning to apologize
Every little lie gives me butterflies
Something in the way you're looking through my eyes
Don't know if I'm gonna make it out alive

They keep apologising to the protagonist, but they can tell they're lying. By saying that the lie is giving them butterflies could mean that the lie is making them nervous or excited. Maybe they've lied about an event that they would go to together.

The last two lines are almost a call for help. They know that the protagonist can read them, and if they figure out too much. They fear that they could be dead (a little drastic right?)

Fight so dirty, but your love so sweet
Talk so pretty, but your heart got teeth
Late night devil, put your hands on me
And never, never, never ever let go
Fight so dirty, but your love so sweet
Talk so pretty, but your heart got teeth
Late night devil, put your hands on me
And never, never, never ever let go

The beginning of this chorus refers to how they are 'evil' or 'bloodthirsty' but they are still the person they first fell in love with. By saying that your heart got teeth it could be a reference to a vampire and how vampires suck blood out of their victims with their fangs. That leaves them dead. Maybe they're using a vampire as a metaphor for what the protagonist's partner is like...

The last two lines of the chorus are instigating that the protagonist is a pawn in their game.

Some days, you're the best thing in my life
Sometimes when I look at you, I see my wife
Then you turn into somebody I don't know
And you push me away, push me away, yeah

By saying some days you're the best thing in my life and sometimes when I look at you I see my wife can say how hopelessly in love the protagonist is. It's almost like Stockholm Syndrome and saying that they still love them. But the protagonist has almost forgotten the spell that they've been put under and they notice the weird behaviour coming from their partner.

Blood on my shirt, rose in my hand
You're looking at me like you don't know who I am
Blood on my shirt, heart in my hand
Still beating

This relates back to the vampire thing. By having blood on your shirt, it is most likely relating to a form of wound, maybe a stab or bullet? You're looking at me like you don't know who I am shares how the partner is almost under a spell or possessed and doing these things without realising. The heart in my hand is impossible and is implying that the protagonist is dead. I don't quite know what the still beating could be. Maybe it's saying that the protagonist still loves their partner?

Favourite Lyric: Blood on my shirt, rose in my hand

Yay or nay: ABSOLUTE YAY!

What it reminds me of: I'm suddenly getting Daylight vibes from this song. For those of you who don't know, Daylight is a song from the Amnesia EP that is about vampires. Are you seeing this too?
