Lyrics and their meaning:
One, two, threeYour type of mind, so hard to find
Native of mine, you're just my kind
Down on my knees, I'll always follow
I promise you, until the end of timeThe protagonist is saying in your type of mind, so hard to find that there is no one like their partner and they are so hard to find people like their partner (I think I just made it more complicated then it needed to be). The protagonist loves them, but they might want to leave (native of mine, you're just my kind and down on my knees, I'll always follow). And the protagonist seems like they truly love their partner, but they're just being shut down by them.
Our house on fire
We're burning
We dance inside
You're hurting
If you leave me in the morning
I'll have such aThis part of the verse shows how the relationship is crumbling down. Our house on fire relates back to Best Years when the protagonist said that they'd build a house for their relationship almost to 'protect' it. By saying we're burning and we dance inside you're being told that not only is the relationship up in flames, but the two people too. They are being broken with this relationship. You're hurting can share that the protagonist has done something wrong to make their partner want to leave. And the last two lines are basically saying that they will be lonely without their partner if they leave.
Such a lonely heart
Oh, whoa
Such a lonely heart
Oh, whoa (oh, whoa)
If you can't find another reason to stay
Then I know I'm gonna always have a lonely, lonely, lonely
Lonely heart
Oh, whoa (oh, whoa)
HeartLoneliness is in all of us. And that's what this chorus is trying to convey. The two of them together cure eachother's loneliness however, if they leave (if you can't find another reason to stay) then they will go back to being lonely again (then I know I'm gonna always have a lonely ect... heart).
Your precious heart
Can't watch it break
(Ooh, ooh)
So I close my eyes
While you walk away
(Ooh, ooh)The protagonist knows that they've made a mistake. They can't bare to see their lover - or now ex lover - in pain. So they close their eyes while the other leaves. While you walk away is also a reference to When You Walk Away, a bonus track from the Youngblood album.
Can I have a second chance?
Can I have another dance?
Can I start another life with you?
(Oh) yeah
When I wake up in a haze
And I haven't slept in days
You're a thousand miles awayThe protagonist starts to wonder if they could fix it up. It almost is like a modern version of Everything I Didn't Say, because there is probably a story behind what made the couple break up that the protagonist never got to explain.
Lonely, it ain't it nothin' new
Nothin' new to me, nothin' new to you (oh, whoa)
Lonely, it ain't it nothin' new
Nothin' new to me, nothin' new to you
Lonely, it ain't it nothin' new
Nothin' new to me, nothin' new to you (oh, whoa)
Lonely, it ain't it nothin' new
Nothin' new to me, nothin' new to youThis bridge reminds me of a line in @Sprinting_Ginger 's book Trusting Fate where the main female character speaks about being lonely to Ashton in a Twitter DM. Even though this book was written before Lonely Heart came out, I get reminded of it every time I listen to this song.
Anyway, this is again on the fact that everyone feels lonely. We all know what loneliness feels like. Personally, I am feeling very lonely right now, but doing this for you is cheering me up!
