Lyrics and their meaning:

You've got a million reasons to hesitate
But darlin', the future's better than yesterday
I wasted so much time on people that reminded me of you
Gave you a million reasons to walk away

This first verse gives us a very unclear picture. We have the first and last lines saying that the protagonist has messed up and the partner could've not been with them. And that is accompanied by but darlin' the future's better than yesterday which is saying that they will change in the future. With the third line, I wasted so much time on people that reminded me of you could refer to several breakups where both parties have tried to find someone new. The protagonist seems to only like their partner though.

But I'll build a house out of the mess
And all the broken pieces
I'll make up for all of your tears

This pre chorus is saying, 'look, I know I've stuffed up quite a bit. But I'm going to change and make up for every time I've made you cry'.

I'll give you the best years
I'll give you the best years
Past love burned out like a cigarette
I promise, darling, you won't regret
The best years

The protagonist is going to change for their partner and give them the best relationship that they can. Personally, I believe that past love burned out like a cigarette refers to how they used to love eachother but they may not anymore. Maybe they want to rekindle their love? And these 'best years' are going to be the memories that they keep with them forever and ever.

I wanna hold your hair when you drink too much
Carry you home when you cannot stand up
You did all these things for me when I was half a man for you
I wanna hold your hand while we're growing up

Basically the protagonist wants to do those coupley things with their partner. The most interesting line in this verse (to me) is You did all these things for me when I was half a man for you. Did the protagonist neglect their partner, and go out getting drunk or (dare I say) high, leaving them to clean the protagonist up?

Favourite Lyric: I wanna hold your hair when you drink too much

Yay or nay: A beautiful YAY!

What it reminds me of: Love and it's ups and downs.
