Time Travel Ecstasy Pt1

(Not to early in the morning, but at Tails's workshop)

(Niki and Tails are tinkering with something under a giant sheet they have placed over the thing that they are tinkering with. Tails is in mid air while Niki is on a tall step ladder)

(The rest of the team is in front of the massive sheet and they all have disgruntled looks on them with arms crossed)

(Niki and Tails then hop/land down to present the team what is under the sheet)

Sonic: (raises an eyebrow) Well, only half an hour later.

Niki: (snarky) Well, sorry we were prepping.

Tails: With out any further or do's, allow us to present (Both pull the sheet off) our portal rays!

(The rest give half-hearted applauses)

Niki: Once you find out what this thing does, your applause will at least be three-quarter-hearted. Because I know those were half-hearted.

Sonic: Okay, so what does this portal thing do?

Tails: (walks to his laptop) This is powered up by kinetic energy and once this baby is powered up, you set a coordinate and location and then you are ready to go. Also how the rays work, they are angled like that so they can cross each other making the portal.

Sonic: Okay, gather that is a piece of giant machinery that you two worked never ending on, but how is this any different from one of Eggman's portal guns?

Tails: It's actually very different, because it can also be a time machine. Wink, wink, nudge, nudge.

Sonic: (interestingly) Huh... Well, I'm now curious.

Tails: (turns head towards Niki) Niki, why don't you get things set up for us?

(Niki does a salute and darts towards a treadmill that is hooked up as the power source)

Sonic: That kind of kinetic energy?! Oh, come on, please! (grovels at Tails)

Tails: (concerningly) Alright, go for it...

(Sonic then darts to the treadmill and hops on it. He then starts running on it trying to power the rays up)

(As the rays are almost perfectly powered up, they only remain that way with Sonic at his top speed)

Sonic: (slows down and comes to a complete stop) Oh, come on! Why isn't it powering up? (Hops off)

Niki: (fist on hip) That's because it requires me dipstick.

(Sonic just stand at the side of treadmill stunned and upset)

(Niki then hops on it and powers it up fully with her speed)

Amy: Not be rude, but how are you gonna keep it powered on?

Tails: (with a disgruntled look) I can simply conserve the energy. (Presses a key on the keyboard of the laptop)

Amy: Oh... (Chuckles nervously)

Tails: Just gotta set the coordinates and then, bam! It's done.
