Thomas nodded slowly as Remy pasted sticky notes to certain nobs and dials. It was all a little confusing and he was wondering how the hell Virgil managed to remember all of these as well as his other jobs.
"So, Thomas, you got it?" Remy asked and Thomas nodded vigorously. "Good. Feel free to experiment with them when the actors come out for formal auditions. Virgil always does it to 'get back in the swing', you get me?"
"Yeah, I get you. Sure thing, Mr Bucks- I mean, Remy."
Remy smirked, giving him a small nod before walking away. Thomas sat in the seat, fiddling with the colour dial. He swiftly heard Remy's' voice calling out: "Everyone auditioning for Romeo needs to line up in stage left and come on one at a time!"
Hearing shuffling and discussion in the wings, a young freshman entered the stage, froze, then continued. Slowly, Thomas turned the main lights to a passionate red, then twisted the audience lights to a pretty gold. He watched as Remy gave the kid a thumbs up.
"My god, isn't Juliet the cutest thing- cutest doll ever?" The boy tried. Thomas leaned back, knowing that this wasn't the right one. The freshman finished in embarrassment and left stage right as another came running in to take his place.

Remus bowed as Remy smiled fondly after his 'Romeo' audition. The coffee addicted teacher clapped his hands and the Romeo wannabes rushed to the stage.
"The ten going through is Aaron Lewis, Remus Milton, Bryan Williams, Tom Harper, Tom Plant, Ben Harvey, Milo Stanton, Shawn Fowley, Alexander Remit, Harry Goodwill. Everyone else, better luck next year!"
The quiet mutter of protest was interrupted by Remus 'whooping' loudly. Remy laughed, and Thomas had to admit that there was definitely some favouritism.
"Can I have my Gabrials up next please?" Asked the teacher politely, although it was definitely a command.
Roman was obviously out first, standing there proudly without even needing a script. Thomas slid something labelled 'spotlight' to the centre mark and Roman posed unflinchingly and began to deliver his lines. "Romeo, your heart is crying out to you! Hear how it cries!" He paused as if Lucifer was delivering his line. "Oh, quiet, you naughty devil! You can do this, Romeo! Listen to your heart!"
Thomas angled the floor lighting to illuminate his friend in a lovesick pink light. Roman seemed to adore it as he kept projecting with feeling and passion. He had to get through.
Roman did get through, along with nine other performers, although their audition had been so flat and dead compared to Thomas's' friend. It looked like the Milton brothers were definitely getting what they wanted.
"Lucifers, line up and send out your first volunteer. Ah, Mr Ren! Well, come on, Fletcher, let's see what you got!" Remy ordered brightly, sipping a coffee he had Patton go and buy for him - because that was possible.
Thomas smirked to himself, setting the lighting to a darker aesthetic. Indigo floor light blossomed into colour, bathing the foot of the stage while every other light cast black. The boy auditioning, Fletcher apparently, stood in a pale silver light, making him stand out. And he started to act.

Virgil stood nervously in front of Remy. This was not where he belonged. Thomas tried to help his friend feel more comforted by lowering the brightness of the silver spotlight and making the room darker.
The anxious teen breathed in slowly and began. "Romeo, this is not a good idea! We're going to get into trouble!" He paused briefly as a Gabrial line was read by someone in the wings. "Gabrial, shush! I'm supposed to be the one persuading him to break into a girls' bedroom via the balcony, not you!"
Thomas sighed in relief as Virgil delved deeper into character. Maybe he didn't need to worry so much. Very slowly, he turned up the lights and Virgil hardly noticed, continuing with his audition easily.
And in the dark of the tech box, Thomas hoped that Remy saw the potential.
.:*:.
"Alright, everyone! Here's the list of Lucifers who can keep practising!" Remy began, picking up his note pad.
Roman had joined Thomas in the tech box, along with Patton and Logan. Virgil stood, shaking, on stage.
"Let's see, Fletcher Ren, Nagasi Karma, Vinnie Bell, Joshua Stone, Tomas Harrison, Luka Hytori, Jerry Houligan, Milo Tumari, Gavin Jersey and-"
