What was Thomas doing at 1:24 in the morning?
Sleeping? Drinking? Eating? Getting his makeup done by Janus to look like their drama teacher?
Well, let me tell you that Thomas had suddenly become a startlingly realistic clone of their drama teacher and it was kinda creeping Janus out as he worked carefully on the boy's' nose, making it appear slimmer with the limited supplies he had.
"I gotta say, I kinda feel like I'm dabbing at Remy's' nose with a shit-load of makeup," commented Janus, holding Thomas's' hair back with his hand.
"Is that a good thing?"
Janus shrugged. "It means I'm doing a good job, but I keep expecting you to yell at someone for being a little pitchy."
Thomas snorted. "Janus, that was off-key! Honestly, I don't stay here after school to hear you claw off my ear!"
The boy scoffed, face cracking in a grin as he began to add shade to the cheekbones, to give Thomas the angular face of their teacher. "Now, there's the Remy we know and fear."
"The coffee lord," Thomas quipped, making Janus chuckle quietly.
"He is Caffeine man," Janus agreed with a wise nod as he pulled back hesitatingly. "Okay, I'm gonna need to put a lighter colour here and swap up the shade for your eyes in a sec-"
"Jan," Thomas said suddenly.
"Hmm?"
"Why are you always with Remus after school? I don't think it was a cat making noises on that call..."
Janus looked aside with a forced smirk as he turned back to his colour palette. "Who are you, Logan? Nothing's going on at home, Sherlock-"
"I never said things were going on at home," Thomas said quickly.
The boy hesitated. "Yeah, you did," He said calmly, his thinning pupils showing his nerves. "Literally, like, just now." Janus whipped out his phone and snapped a picture of Thomas's' completed face before handing him makeup wipes. "Want me to do anything else?"
"You can't avoid the question by pretending I never asked it!" Whined Thomas.
"Watch me."
"Janus, please," Thomas snatched Janus's' wrist in his hand, keeping the other there. "You are one of my best friends-"
"I'm one of your only friends." Thomas narrowed his eyes and Janus sighed, saying, "Okay, okay, keep going."
Thomas breathed in and continued. "Are you getting hurt? I know Remus is in on whatever it is, that's obvious but I just wanna know. I wanna make sure you're safe."
Janus looked up at Thomas and made direct eye contact with him, not breaking it even to blink. "You want the truth?" He deadpanned.
Thomas nodded. "I just wanna know you're safe..."
Janus smiled "I'm not."
.:*:.
Thomas sat in tech box, happy to be back at school, even if just for the drama club than anything else. He watched a scene done between Juliet and a few other people, working slowly on the lights. A piece of soft piano music was playing on low volume in the background, and the lights had a soft, intimate pink hue to them, like they often did when Juliet was on stage, to capture her daydream-like attitude.
This was their first straight run-through, although there weren't any makeup and costumes being used yet. Janus and Virgil still needed to stop arguing enough to pick a colour palette for Romeo and Juliet, although Gabrial and Lucifer were down.
Thomas huffed silently, spinning around in his chair as the scene chattered on. It wasn't that it was a boring scene. It was just he had to watch it and he wasn't allowed to leave. God, that thought made him really want to pee.
His phone lit up silently and he risked a glance at it.
TheOneWhoThinksLowercaseIsAnAsthetic: so, r u dragging me to that party later?
Thomas blinked slowly, looked up quickly to the long scene and hurriedly replied.
Me: What the hell are you talking about, Virgil???
TheOneWhoThinksLowercaseIsAnAsthetic: oof, wrong number, srry
Me: Virge, what party r you going to?
Me: I didn't know there was a party
Me: Are you ghosting me?
TheOneWhoThinksLowercaseIsAnAsthetic: srry, remy saw me on my phone and i got a scene soon
TheOneWhoThinksLowercaseIsAnAsthetic: k bye
Me: Bye????
Me: Tell me about that party later tho
Thomas sighed, putting down his phone and then looking up at the stage and nearly jumped out of his seats as he heard one of his cue lines. He turned the lights black and faded out the piano music quickly, muttering silent but thankful curses that he wasn't too late for the line.
He listened carefully to the soft pattering of feet coming in through his headphones and waited before he flicked the lights to light grey to illuminate Virgil, Remus and Roman. The trio quickly kicked off their scene and Thomas began to set up the backing track to a song that Remus was about to sing. He waited a few lines before kicking it into play, letting the intro play and then Remus swept in with the first line.
During the scene, Thomas kept a close eye on Virgil. The emo glanced up to the tech box once or twice but, other than that, remained completely focused.
Yeah, he was definitely acting odd and Thomas was definitely going to ask him about it later...
Finally back, I know! No, this doesn't mean updates will be frequent again, but here you go. I'm so sorry you've had to wait so long and this is such a short chapter but I just needed to line up a few dominoes so I can let them fall later. Sorry for the wait, guys!
