Thomas picked up the phone and instantly Roman said, "Thomathy, you're on speaker."

"Cool? What's up? Anyone else there?" Thomas asked, picking up on Roman's' tone instantly.

"Remus and Virgil. Remus is calling Janus and Virgil's just pacing." Roman informed and Thomas could hear a soft shifting noise, as though Roman was sitting on a bed.

A phone was ringing in the distance and then picked up. "Remus?" He heard Janus say. "I-Is there a problem? Because my stepdad's-!"

"Hey, babe, you're on speaker by the way! We got Thomas, Roman and Virgil here too!" Remus interrupted swiftly.

"Oh," Janus's' voice broke and a large splintering noise could be heard in the far distance. "Sweet. Hey, guys! You're not on speaker, even though that doesn't really matter."

Virgil stopped pacing, probably - the rhythmic footsteps in the background stopped before coming closer. "I have a problem," Virgil said, the sound of him sitting down on his bed coming through Thomas's' speakers.

"What's up?" Asked Janus. Pounding on a wall could be heard. And whimpering.

"My pa sent an email to my dad today. He was asking if he could see us on boxing day." The spite in Virgil's' voice might as well have been acidic venom, dripping in thick streams of hate, because he spat out every syllable as though it were a sour and ugly thing to even mention. "And my dad agreed."

"Yeah," Roman sounded like he was nodding. "That's the problem."

Everyone now knew how Virgil had felt about his 'pa'. Roman had been allowed to explain what had happened, although he had definitely left some bits out. And now Virgil would complain non-stop about the man sending emails to his father with bitter hate.

Thomas sucked air between his teeth, making a small whistling sound. "Do Patton and Logan know?"

"They've been texted the situation on Virgil's' phone. Patton's' just sent, 'aw, you poor thing,' followed by loads of heart emojis. Logan is still typing." Remus said. There was a moment of silence. Then Remus said incredulously, "Is this college formatted?!"

"Oh my god, that is such a Logan thing to do..." Roman muttered, voice a little quieter as he leaned away from the phone.

Janus coughed, covering a commotion or some kind of struggle. "Could we get back to the current problem? What can we do about this Even coming to visit you?"

Thomas bit his lip. "Could you just avoid the house?"

"Dad will force me to stay."

"Avoid Evan?"

Virgil sighed loudly. "Dad will make me interact with him."

Remus chimed in helpfully, "Logan says that if you have a close friend over, you'll have a reason to ignore him."

"That sounds like a good idea, Virgil, Who-?" Janus was cut off by a yell in the background. "S-Sorry, that's my cat, hah!" He laughed nervously. "Anyway, who do you want to invite?"

Thomas sagged back slightly. "Cassidy, is something wrong? Do you have siblings? Are they fighting or something?"

"Hah!" His voice broke. "Of course not, Thomas, I'm an only child - it's just my cat she's a real nuisance."

"Ooh, what's her name?" Asked Roman.

A moment of silence. "Ben."

Thomas frowned. "I thought your cat was a girl, you just used female pronouns-"

"C'mon, Virgie, who are you inviting?" Remus changed subject easily and you could hear Virgil's' sigh.

"I dunno..." Muttered the emo. "I want someone who isn't going to convince me to make up with Evan so, sadly, Pat is out of the option."

"I'm out of the option too," Thomas shrugged.

Roman was sitting back on the bed, judging by the pillowy sounds Thomas began to hear. "And Logan wouldn't be able to stay fun for a whole day. Just telling the truth, here."

"It's fine, Princey. Urgh, I hate Evan." Hissed Virgil, voice muffled slightly as if he was speaking into something.

Remus piped up, obviously grinning as he said, "I would come, but I would probably make the guy think you're unstable and then he'll tell your dad and then you'll get in a hell load of trouble."

"Yeah," Said Virgil, his voice housing a bitter smirk. "I don't think I'd be able to even survive an hour of unfiltered Remus. How your boyfriend does it, I don't know."

Janus breathed out loudly, before saying, "I won't be allowed, my mum will need me and my stepdad hates it when I miss out on family time."

"So that just leaves me." Roman was most likely grinning cheekily. Thomas could almost hear Virgil's' eyebrow raise. "You good if I hang with you for the whole day when that happens, emo nightmare?"

"At least you'd have a valid excuse. we could just say we're running lines or something." Shrugged Virgil. At least, he probably shrugged.

Thomas smiled, even though none of his friends could see it. "So it's a plan! You guys tell Patton and Logan, and I hope we can meet up over the holidays. See y'all, bye!" Thomas hanged up after getting a chorus of goodbyes.

.:*:.

Roman waited until Janus hanged up and Virgil put his phone away. "C'mon, Remus, let's go home!"

Virgil gave them a short salute as he left his room. "See you guys. And you might need to pick up Deceit. He needs to get out of that house."

"Will do, Virgin!~" Trilled Remus, mocking the salute. "Goodbye!~"

"H-Hey, Remus! Not fair! At least I'm not ridden with STDs like a rat!" Virgil yelled after the twins.

Emile pretended he wasn't concerned.
