Ever since the day at the skating rink, Nathaniel couldn't get the events out of his head. He wasn't certain on Y/N's opinion about him but he couldn't help but feel differently about her.
Nathan caught on to every glance and every giggle that came from her. The things she'd say or do just felt different. He wondered if maybe it was just him or if Y/N considered their mutual banter as flirting. Was it flirting?
After school, Nathaniel called Marc. Nathan explained that he had a hard time focusing on the latest edition of their comic book. "I don't know. I just feel distracted and I don't know what to do."
"Whenever I get distracted, I usually just listen to music or reread some of our older comic books. If that doesn't work, I usually call you or Y/N to discuss any future plans for the comic", Marc suggested. "Have you tried calling Y/N?"
"Well, that's kind of the problem", Nathan rubbed his neck, embarrassed. "It's kind of relating to Y/N."
"Wait, wait, wait-", Marc interrupted. "Did you guys get into an argument or something?"
"No, it's nothing like that. It's actually the opposite and I called you cause I trust you but I need you to promise you won't tell anyone what I'm going to tell you." Nathaniel paces his bedroom, drumming a pen nervously.
"Oh, you have tea to spill? I swear I won't tell a single soul what you're going to tell me", Marc assured him. "Now, what's the tea?"
Nathan stifled a laugh at Marc's expression. "Alright. So it's about Y/N, but I already told you that." He hated how much he unwillingly drew out his point. He wishes he was as eager to spill his guts as he was jumping to conclusions. "Okay so remember how we were supposed to go to the skating rink, right? Well, we stopped by André's ice cream cart before that. He basically gave us matching ice cream."
Marc was silent for a few seconds. "Did Y/N say anything?"
"No, but Andre referred to us as 'lovebirds' or something and I tried to play it off but I don't know. When we started skating, Y/N asked to hold my hand and I let her but we kind of started flirting. I honestly don't know if we were flirting but it was different, you know? Maybe she was play flirting or something cause you two always like teasing me but she's never done that." Nathan sighed as he plopped himself on his bed.
Marc thought for a bit. "Have you considered the fact that Y/N might have a crush on you?"
Nathan scoffed. "Y/N having a crush on me? I mean, it's not the craziest thing I've heard but don't you think she would've told me if she did?"
"I mean, you weren't exactly open with Marinette, Nath", Marc reminded him. "Anyway, what will you do if she does have a crush on you and she actually tells you?"
"I guess I'd say yes. I mean, she's a nice girl and a really good friend." Nathan shrugged.
"So you like her? Do you have a crush on Y/N?" Marc sat up, having potentially spilled some more tea.
Nathaniel was quiet for a while. "Do I? I mean, it felt nice flirting and whatever but I figured that was just a natural reaction to attention, y'know? I mean, I'm not saying it's not a possibility- she's pretty, funny, kind...but what if I do have a crush on her? What if I develop some crush on her overnight?"
"Want me to talk to her?", Marc asked. "I'll go talk to her."
He hung up the phone, leaving Nathan a worse mess than when he originally started.
